the thing is though, you'll pay the best part of £6k for decent one! and you'll struggle to get much more power out of them without spending huge money, whereas a mk2 ibiza abf can be 99% as quick with just a few decent mods (cams, de-cat and a p&p'd head,decent coilovers ect) and could most likely be done for around £3k. plus everyone expects a vtec honda to be quick, but not everyone realises just how quick even a well sorted 8v ibiza can be!

one of my mates has just got a dc2 import integra type r, probably one the fastest cars around a corner i've ever been in! back on topic (sorry) has that intake hose made any difference? cos i noticed that on the abf the standard one is very narrow on the bend just before the throttle body, and wen i rev the engine with bonnet up, i can see the pipe partially collapsing and presumably restricting airflow.

8v? ABF? think you're getting confused.

you can't compare a mk2 with a Civic R, different era's, mk3 1.8T territory similar output, weight etc.
if you spent 3k on a 16v you still end up with a car worth what a 16v's worth, money down the drain
just go & buy a mk3?

errrr...what? abf is 16v, my comment about the 8v was that MOST poeple just think "nah..only 115bhp..too slow" when the reality is very different, and my point is that hondas of this type are very expensive, and so is tuning them. whereas a mk2 ibiza (even a mk3 1.8t running 200+bhp can be had for under £4k) is significantly cheaper. and who cares if you only end up with a car that's only worth "what a 16v's worth" i buy a car cos i like it, and not for it's resale value! and it's never money down the drain from that point of view, are you are second hand car dealer?

so are you admitting that it's not worth having a 16v then?
if i was a second hand car dealer i wouldn't be trading 10yr old cars worth next to nothing

dont know if i am missing the point a bit here but ill go for it anyway.....

i would have liked a mk3 turbo but couldnt afford it. For the price i paid for my 16v (£1300) with 58k on the clock i was well chuffed and when i was looking i couldnt see a mk3 turbo with less then 70k on it....anyways....for £1300 i believe i have brought a fast car and have made many a other car look foolish. i will keep spending money on to get it how i want and to get what performance i can out of it on my budget but i know that many would give better power gains if it was a mk3 turbo.

Errr...you seem hellbent on argueing with me eh Old'un! look, my point is just that, yes, he got spanked by a very quick honda, but they cost a lot, a mk2 ibiza 16v can be had for next to nowt (mine was £500) so in terms of bang-for-bucks the ibiza wins hands down. and the fact that it's a genuinely quick car even by modern standards is a billy bonus. and orangemiffins is a very nice example! (just making a brief attempt to get back on topic for you!) I have spoken..that is all!!
