de cat on, its sounding good and the car feels great.

Have a very nasty metal on metal sound when i brake so EBC green stuff front and back pads on order and its booked in friday to have the brakes done. Also ABS light came on this morning but would imagine thats becuase of the metal on metal brakes ??

Also, brought blue speedo buld kit off ebay as 2 of my dash bulbs have gone and when i drive at night i cant tell how much petrol i have left. The kit has arrived at work this morning and it looks mega complicated....& it goes on about soldering and drilling holes.....fudge that !

Yeah, Decat is the first mod ive made that I can feel a difference, and the windows at work shake when I start it !! lol

Yeah, for crimes in a past life I am a Luton fan . Leaving work early tonight to go to the game, Havant lived in Luton since I was very little though.

think its about 98 miles mate, can do it in an hour and a 1/4. not to bad really.

right, it went into midland VW today to have new pads and disks all round. I supplied the EBC green stuff pads but the garage were buying the disks in for me....

now it turns out my car has 280mm disks on as at some point they have been uprated to this size ???????? news to me.

Thats standard break size for a valver mate, only the 8v had mincey breaks

no gti have 280's bud... i know with my cordoba coupe 1.6 they say i sud have 239's fitted but have 256's

I am pretty sure that they are standard size mate - same as a g60 setup.
But what do I know, owning a valver having changed the breaks......................

I had the same problem when they ran the reg of my 1.6 ibiza 256mm vented discs.

It's all part of the fun of these cars though

i tend to agree,

where is the fun in just turning up at half 5 to collect your car...its much better to get there only to find that the reg doenst match the brakes and then you have to be late for work the next day to take your misses to work so you can have her car and work through your lunch so you can leave early to fetch her from work and get to the garage before it closes.

Or turn up to collect yout car and the bloke hands over 80% of the parts that you'd already purchased and informs you that he's had to go out and buy the ones that fit that the parts guy insisted they never fitted to your car!

I'm learning slowly to just search on here for part numbers and lie to the guys at GSF about what car i've got depending on the part i want
