if its just hairline sort of marks you see in the sun take it back with 600 or 800 if its really light

400 is pretty coarse but will take out a screwdriver type scratch and then all the others back on top

main downside is that there isnt any shortcuts - the more work you put in the better job you get out
 
yeh exactly. I've still got quite a few "pits/chips" in it now i've seen it in different light....

So I recon get some coarse paper to remove these, and then get back to finishing it properly with wetndry and go from there. Its hard work... but hopefully worth it.

I'm actually amazed i got it to look this shiny already - quite chuffed with myself.

ive done a bit more on mine today im still left with few chips and that so gonna give it another going over and then build up the wet and dry to really smothen it down looks so much better than the rough cast as standard tho
 
yea not finished my by a long way got all the little fiddly bits left to do like on edges and that but mine looks like brushed aluminim like what the colouring is on my fr so i might not go fully polished just good shiney aluminium
