The kickdown in manual was honestly one of the reasons why I sold my Boc and bought a manual car.

You can avoid it hapenning in manual mode but then it feels like your not getting full throttle which kind of defeats the point.

I remember shouting at my car a good few times when I had it "STOP CHANGING DOWN ARRRGGGHHHH"
haha

Mardon you've got some impressive times there I take it the remap made a huge difference?

Yeah a remap and strip out of back seats, spare alloy and all the tools. The revo map is amazing! Saving for some new toys, black roof and sills atm. What car did you get?

I know what you mean sometimes booting it pedal
to metals is half the fun. You loose that a little!

Good stuff I wonder if one of the tuning companies will bring out an exhaust for it soon!

I got an S3 in sprint blue, I've got the induction kit and DV for it I just need the exhaust system and fuel pump then I can get the Revo stage 2+ map loaded on which should be a laugh!

Hows the car handling on the coilovers? Make sure you get a photshop done of the sideskirts before you get them sprayed! It just doesnt sound right to me, might look spot on but I'd watch you don't end up with a black/white contrast overkill!!

I'm going white skirts. Think black would look good on a red boc, would be overkill on mine. Blueflame is in development, looks great. Gets rid of the trapezoid exhaust for one more in the style of the cooper S.

Handling is very very good on the coilovers, better dampening as well.

The stage 2 s3 were performing very very well at inters!

Oh yeah forgot to mention. Here is seats rather poor reply.

Dear Mr Donkin,

Thank you for your email dated 4th June in relation to your SEAT Ibiza Bocanegra. Sorry for the delayed response, this is notour normal timescale and no discourtesy is intended. I have forwarded your comments about your gearbox performance to the SEAT Technical Support Team. They have advised that if youthink the gearbox is performing incorrectly that you should defintely visit your local SEAT Dealership so that they can inspectand diagnose any faults that your vehicle may have. If I can help you any further about this or any other query, please feel free to contact me at SEAT Customer Care on 0500 222222. Kind Regards

wow, late reply, and can't even use spaces correctly (i presume you've just copied and pasted)
They seem to have completely missed the fact that the gearbox is performing incorrectly, not through fault, but by design.

Idiots.

I know! Crap answer! The box is not broken is bad design which could be sorted I should think. I mentioned to seat technician and they said the auto change was a safety feature.. YES I KNOW!!!! Auto Change is a safety feature, but KICK DOWN at 5k rpm is just not on!!

Seems some people are having the issue, others are not. I’m getting better at not pressing the throttle flat to the metal when having a bit of fun.. but as mentioned previously, that takes away some of the fun.

i do drive a lot of cars and i must say the kickdown isnt just a pain in the ass on the dsg but across many different autos aswell! is always very confusing on why it feels the need to rev a ridiculous amount to change gear straight away.

e.g. i drove an slk 230 merc auto, put foot down, changed into silly gear at 6000+ rpm only to change gear within a second!!

Ok I have been looking for some real reviews about this car and its DSG system. So do you get this problem alot? or hasn't it happened before.

Also overall out of 10 how do you rate the DSG / Car overall?? as I was thinking of getting one.

I still think that the kick down on the 7 speed dsg is not so annoying, i did some tests today, it wont rev so high.
But, on the 6 speed DSG it is frustating. The dsg will even downshift to 1st gear ! :banghead2 :wtf:

I drive auto's quite regularly, although admittedly not an Ibiza auto, but, when I'm using manual and I floor it, if I don't want it to kick down I just don't press the throttle past the button and I've never found it a problem.

Pushing through the button doesn't open the throttle butterflies anymore, it's just another control for the gears.

I think what I'm trying to say is I'm not quite understanding why it's this much of a problem...just don't press through the button?

I must admit, now i have gotten used to the dsg it don't bother me half as much. In fact I rather enjoy it and I know that when I wanna rev the nuts off the car I do it in manual. I am loving my car............................ also with 225BHP on tap now hehehehehehehehehehee
