Hi all.

My 2004 Seat Ibiza 1.2 is rapidly approaching 40,000 miles and the service light has now come on.

Could someone please tell me what the 40,000 mile service involves? I think I read somewhere that it's quite a major service and some others on here have been quoted £300+ from SEAT dealerships. If it's going to be that expensive I will probably use an independent garage.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thought I best help a fellow "Chris B" out :D

Air, oil, pollen and fuel filter, as well as oil.

Check all lights, inspect brakes pads and discs for wear, adjust handbrake if neccessary, reset service light, job's a good'un!

It's impossible to put an exact price on the service really without inspecting the car.

Thanks.

I just phoned my local SEAT dealership and they've quoted £288. :-o
My local VW Bosch centre have quoted £229 to basically do exactly the same work.

I'm not sure whether it's worth spending the extra £60 on having it serviced at SEAT. I do plan to sell the car in 12 months so I don't know if it'll retain more value if it's got full SEAT stamps in the service book or not.

Well phoned up for a price on mine earlier 55 plate 1.8t cupra for a 40k service with the cam belt and water pump done at 30k and they quoted "a large service" with pollen & air filter, spark plugs, fully synthetic oil and 1.9 hrs labour, that comes too £343.44 sir. I coughed and said i would be back in touch- not!! 30k service with cambelt, water pump, brake fluid change and find a water leak only came to £430 ladt year at a audi vw centre! I know its not Seat but i mean they both use the same parts!!!
