Ibiza 1.2 OIL light flashing on dash

Hello All,

I have an 05 MY Ibiza 1.2 SX.

Just noticed today morning the 'OIL' light flashing on the dash. I topped the engine up with oil but it is still flashing. The spanner indicator has come on. As far as I know it should not be up for service as yet (just driven around 3000miles after last one in March). The engine does not sound any different too.

What could be the problem? Should I immediately book my car in the garage?

I am panicking a bit as 'oil' issues could be nasty.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

It's just the car telling you it has done 5k miles since the last service and is due an oil change. The 1.2s like an oil change every 5k with a service every 10k.

If you don't fancy changing the oil you can just cancel it and carry on. I do change the oil every 5k, a 5l container only costs £25 and you can just about do two oil changes with it.

mine does this too. the oil & insp warnings work off the milage so when the speedo thinks the cars due a service due to the milage since the last time the light was on, it will throw either oil or insp up whichever it thinks is required. the ecu does not have a clue when the car last had an oil change so it will do this regardless. im forever resetting mine a couple of thousand miles after i service it. dont worry about it dude, just reset it & carry on about your daily business as usual
