Ibiza 1.4 engine problems- Help!!!

Hi, Ive had my Mrk 3 Ibiza 1.4s for about 9 months n the engine has always been slightly loud.

The problem started with the engine revving itself while iding and juddering on acceleration, but it came and went so thought nothing of it.

Then the other day when driving down the motorway the EPC light came on, the engine cut out, dropped to 3000 revs then started again, but the car wouldnt go above 3500 revs (63mph), sounded like a diesel stop rather than a petrol limiter. Then the engine temp gauge light flashed on (the temp gauge was broken wen i bought it, shows minimum all the time) so we stopped and the coolant was low, which we topped up.

Was fine after that but today stopped at traffic lights the engine cut out again and the EPC light came back on, took a good few tries to start it again. The engine was then juddery again. Also recently the mpg seems to have gone down a bit, dont know if this could be related.

Does anyone know what this might be? I wana kno if its somethin I can do myself before i book it in for a fix.

Have looked at the far right fuse but it seems perfect

Thanks

I had the same problem with my 1.4 beeza, juddery engine then temp gauge went mental. Turns out it was the head gaskett that was the problem. Be careful because it could be overheating badly, mine got so overheated it melted the engine covers and it took a week and a half to import them in! Get it looked at asap.

Do you know anyone in the area who has VAG-COM?

It'd best to hook your car up to it and see what codes its chucking out. Then we should have some foundations to build upon and hopefully help get your car sorted.

Similar problem

Hi, my car has not got this bad yet but feel my problem may be the same. Fuel economy seems to have got slightly worse, idling is often uneasy and "bouncy" rather than smooth, and on occasions the EPC light has come on but tends to go off after driving for a little and/or a couple of starts.
Thanks Guys

VAG-COM is a diagnostic tool / piece of software that mainly displays fault codes that your ECU is generating.

It connects to your via into the OBD-II port (pink plug) behind the trim where the fuse panel is underneath the sterring wheel

from this and with the help of some of the folk on here, you can decipher whats wrong with your car from the codes shown.

Some people have it on their laptops and can check your car over for you for a pint of beer or two.

Easier than going to VW/SEAT etc and have them do it.

worth asking if anyone in your area has it

Has this problem been sorted yet?

I have the same issue with my ibiza 1.4 8v. The problem with mine is that it wont start, seems like the automatic choke is sticking. I have to start the car a number of times before it actually ticks over without coughing and spluttering. This doesnt happen every time I start the car, normally its after I've just been driving it.

Does anyone know what this is... this car has cost me toch already in the past year to get it sorted. Has anyone got a VAG-COM in the north yorkshire area to diagnose my beeza for me please!

Thanks
