Ibiza 6J gearstick spring broke

Hi,

Gearstick spring in my Ibiza broke some time ago and now its not coming back to center position that well. I have found some replacement springs but I cant find a way to remove the old one. Is there a way to remove that part marked on green? If its pressed or something I thought maybe wrapping some thick rubber bands to make stick stiffer. What you think?

Maybe try using this VW Group online parts catalogue, if you do that, you should be able to find out which parts are available as spares, and so work out maybe how things come apart - or just buy the available new parts.
