Thanks for that. So does it plug into the rear lights or does the Ibiza have trailer plug at the rear?

Also that link says "excl FR / Cupra". Mine is Ibiza FR...which model did you use this kit on ?

It plugs into the rear light cluster, behind the carpet to the right and the left of the boot there is some plugs, and this splices into those wires but with proper plugs so no cables are damaged.

My first car was a 55 plate 1.2 reference and fitted that fine, now i've got a 57 plate 1.4 formula sport and all the wiring is identacle :)

And this is proof tow bars fit cupras and Fr's http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1610293&postcount=59

Thanks, really helpful. What I will do is buy the basic TowEquipe kit for £74.00. This has universal electrics. If I can't manage to install this I'll think about a car specific electrics.

You just plugged into the same wires (via an easier method) so a bypass relay is not required. What I was concerned about was overloading these wires - blowing fuses and causing error messages on the dash - which can happen in some cars.

If I were you I would really reccomend getting the plug in electrics as its so easy! And you dont have to risk cutting any wires! I decided that it was better to spend the extra money and get the plug in kit just because of the risk of cutting wires..

When you use the scotchblock connectors you have the risk of them cutting right through the wires.

I've got the westfalia kit on an 07 plate fr tdi. Works just fine with a Bosal detachable bar. Benny, did you get the electrics coded in? I currently don't get the indicator on the dash, nor does the fog light swap to the trailer.

I coded them myself using VAGCOM. You have to have the full licence to do it though :/ And both the warning light and the fog light works :)

Hi, I got my towbar sorted. Thanks for the advice Benny.

If anyone is interested what I think of the towequippe kit - it seems a good quality towbar. With the uni-wiring to do it may take you 4-5 hours to install. The bar that replaces the rear crash bar doesn't mount in the same way, it has arms that go back and is very fiddly to install. The instructions supplied with this kit are OK, could be better.

Here's my car with Towbar mounted Thule 9402 Ride on Bike Carrier :)

Glad you've got it all sorted! I've got the same carrier as you apart from mine takes 3 bikes instead of two :)

Ben

Me too lol, looks a bit wobbly when you look out the back on a country road, but seems sturdy enough!

Will have to sort out doing the lights on VAGCOM at some point then...

I'll do a guide in a week or so, im on holiday at the moment so cant now obviously :) Cant remember exactly how but it was easy!
If you need it now just search through the vag com menus and its something to do with towing then you go to coding or something and it tells you how..
When im back i'll put it up on here :)
