Hello I did try to find out if this topic was already spoken about. I’m after something silly, I own a 2010 Ibiza cupra (facelift model) originally the good old twin charged automatic model.

I’ve currently stripped the whole engine bay down to little to nothing as I’ve thrown a rod bearing.

I was thinking of attempting something which I have yet to see in a 6j, a VR6 of some sort ? Whether it’s the 2.8 3.2 or 3.6 doesn’t really matter whichever one is easier.

Has anybody actually attempted this ? 100% of the fitting will be done by myself but unfortunately I’m unable to do any fabricating or any custom wiring. I ain’t after any fancy power figures as of yet.

I literally just want an Ibiza cupra with a vr6 that drives and changed gears. I would like to keep it automatic but if a manual change is necessary then so be it. I’m willing to sacrifice traction control and abs and any other wiring as long as it literally runs and drives is all I care about.

Thank you

If you’ve not already done so, I’d recommend you check to make sure you’ll be able to get insurance cover at an affordable price before you spend lots of time effort and money on what you’re proposing to do.

Many insurance companies aren’t interested in covering highly modified cars which yours will be, and those that would be prepared to provide cover may want a significant premium.

Will you also be upgrading other parts of the car such as brakes and suspension to handle the larger, more powerful engine?

Good luck with your project.
