ibiza mk2 gti cupra

Hi, the names daz and im from anglesey, north wales, owner of a mk2 ibiza gti cupra. thought id join up to get info and advice on where to get parts and how to overcome problems. Bought the car back in september totally standard but since have totally stripped it out and is now used as an autotest/track car, it has a 6mm alloy sumpguard, bucket seats, sparco harnesses along with suede wheel and boss. Have done 3 events with it now, 1st event came 18th out of 42 starters at a quarry challenge, 2nd event at ty croes racetrack, came 9th in class out of 38 starters and came 10th on sunday just been. Overall very happy with it, jst a few little things with it, the heatshield under the handbrake is missing, where can i get one from or what can be done to reduce the amount of heat coming into the car, and also around the base of the gearstick there is a white plastic bar and plate to enable selection from 1st to reverse, this has melted due to the amount of heat generated from exhaust over the weekend. Any info on these 2 parts would be much appreciated, thanks daz

Hi Daz,

Have you tried using www.vagcat.com to find out part numbers etc for the bits you need?

For example, with regards the shifter mechanism, here's a diagram from vagcat:

Which part do you need?

and for the exhaust heatshield:

Nice one for that andy, will have a look now, there isnt an arrow pointing at the part i need for the shifter unless i have to buy the complete stick, thought id struggle for parts to be honest m8, thanks for the website, big help and much appreciated!!
