Ibiza MK4 Amp Install

Hello All, first post here and of course its asking for advice :p

Im in the process of fitting an amp / sub into my 53 reg TDI130 Ibiza (mk4). I'm having trouble finding a grommett to feed the power cable through from the battery. Ive searched posts and checked some how-to's for a mk3 ibiza but the layout is different.

I have only seen 2 grommetts. One is behind the dash and already has a black cable going through it to the inside. At first I thought I'd feed the cable through the same hole but in doing this the rubber grommett no longer fits back in place. The other that I saw was under the windscreen on the drivers side right in the corner, this looks like a right bitch to get to from the outside.

Can any of you mk4 guys let us know where you fed your cable through, gonna give it another bash in the morning :)

I tried looking for one many moons ago but I couldn't find one either.

I then decided on not making my bulkhead look like swiss cheese like I did in my old MK2 Polo

Damn,.. getting a drill out isnt really something that I want to do. Besides I reckon I could cope with installing this kit myself but that I wouldnt wanna chance.

Here's hopeing that one of the many mk4 TDI owners did find a grommett and shares :)

PM Rage, he might know of a place as he's got a very nice install in his TDI "130". I don't know why I didn't think of him yesterday!!!

Well, an update, I have fed the power cable from the battery fine. I found a grommet at the top right just under the windscreen. The cables are currently running along the floor (ran out of light), I wasnt sure how to get the trim up. Unlike the prev posts I have seen about mk3's I dont see any screws and dont wanna just yank it in case something breaks. Also, can anyone advise me on a good grounding point in the boot. For the mk3 the rear of the back seatbelt holder was advised however the brief look I had this point was behind some rear trim which looks like its held in with 1 screw and some clips.

Any advise would be useful :) Ill drop Rage a pm later if none of the other guys have any suggestions

Earthing point: If you take the plastic trim off the boot(the bit with all the lines on it, there is some metal pins which are used to clip that plastic piece in place, you can get a ring connector, cut a section out of the ring with snips and then put it around the pin and bend it to stay there. This is how i did mine and with the plastic trim back on its got nowhere to go, also very easy to access.

The grommet: I used the one slightly further down the bulk head, i had a black wire coming through there already but i dont know what its for, i just pulled the wire till the grommet popped out, took a file and make the hole bigger, wrapped both wires with a thick layer of insulating tape and pushed them back into place so that the tape is stopping the wires from rubbing on the metal.

The wires: The easiest way to run the wires is to put them in the channel that runs under your door sills, through the huge space behind the rear door cards(3 door) or under the rear door sills(5 door) and then right to the back of the boot and out from the side under the carpet. All you do is pull on the plastic trim and it will come off, the clips sometimes fall off but they wont break. If it doesnt seem to be coming off, try pul it from a different place, i found the end furthest from the engine is the best place to pull, as for the rear ones you just have to get something stuck under the trim and wedge it out, there is no screws holding any of the trim on as far as i am aware.
