Ibiza noise when stationary

Hi my partners mk 4 ibiza has developed an annoying noise over the past couple of days. Basically when you are sitting with the car idling there is a rumbling noise from the back of the car! Which does go away when you rev it slightly. At first I thought it sounded like a fuel pump but I'm now thinking if it's exhaust related! The car still drives as it normally does but has this annoying grumble of varying loudness at idle. Tonight when u got out the car you could hear quite an audible ticking noise whilst on idle coming from underneath the car which disappeared as soon as you switched it off. I'm going to have a look underneath tomorrow if anyone has had this problem before or ideas it would be much appreciated.

Sounds like exhaust based maybe? Catching on
Heat shield possibly? Hence why goes away when under load?

Cheers Chino! Jack edit up and had a look today! Centre section corroded from inside and heat shield seems to vibrating but I think this is coming off the centre section and the tailpipe as that too is noisy! Car is 6 years old with same exhaust system on! Time to get a new one!

Haha thought it might be that! Exhausts can be a pain to get to sit right on these so if you change it, let it warm up properly and put it under load to check it's fitted nicely, mine was a PITA to get sat right. I've currently got a loose bit of heat shielding on top of mine that I need to bolt back on at the weekend too lol
