Hi guys, sorry if this is in the wrong place as I actually don't know what mk my car is.

I recently purchased this and it's my first car, go me!

Anyhow, the stereo I currently have is pretty basic, normal radio with an aux input. I want something a bit fancier and was wondering if I could put in bluetooth/usb/gps system is possible at all. I don't mind paying a lot for it as it's something I really want.

If anyone could be of any help I'd appreciate it!

Here's what my current stereo looks like, but not my picture.

Sorry for circumventing the link removal till 15 posts but I thought people needed to see the picture.

Thanks again

Firstly, your in the right section based on your picture.

With the stereo you have two options: upgrade the original, or swap it for a new one.

Original
USB would need the additional module and enabling using VCDS or Vagcom.

Bluetooth would need the microphone and enabling in VDCS or Vagcom. You will also need to change the steering stalk controls if you want to be able to answer calls etc.

GPS is not possible with the stock stereo.

Replace
The world is your oyster with this, you can get either single or double din with the right adapters, look at connects2. Find a radio with the specs you like, then find the right adapters.

I wouldn't mind just replacing it outright, so it is possible right? I would go to my friends garage to get it done though, im a techy just not in cars!

Oh and if anything, I don't know where to buy them from. Don't want to get dodgy items or a rip off seller.

It is possible to replace the stock stereo yes.

Pick any radio, and so long an the radio is either single or double din, there are adapters to make them fit, including steering wheel adapters.

For the radio you could go for Sony, Kenwood, Apline. There are many more.

For adapters I would always stick with connects2. They are a bit more expensive but seems to be good quality.

I saw someone link this website and I found this product on it

eonon.co.uk/2-Din-Car-GPS/G2112E.html

Would that fit/be worth the price? Also I don't know whether my car would have a GPS input?

Also found this which looks a bit simpler is gps wont work

caraudiodirect.co.uk/head-units/double-din/jvc-kw-r920bt

Eonon should fit as it says it is 2 din. You will need an adapter to allow this to fit. They are okay but are not too well known. The gps would work as it comes with its own aerial which you would have to install.

The jvc does have no gps but looks okay as well. Depends on what you want.

So if I get the Eonon, the GPS will work along with the car controls, I just need to buy adapters for them?

Where would be best buying the adapters, should I just search for the connects2

Also if I got something like this instead

eonon.co.uk/2-Din-Car-GPS/G2110F.html

and downloaded something such as Waze or Google Maps, would the GPS still work or does it require data. Since I don't fancy hooking my hotspot up from my phone constantly

You shouldn't need an adapter for the GPS, it should come with an antenna. Otherwise yes, look at connects2 for a kit and it will give you an idea of what you need i.e. Cage, Fascia plate, iso harness adapter, steering wheel adapter.

The GPS would work fine on the other, but those apps require a data connection to get route and traffic information. Google maps i know you can save offline areas though. If you want offline maps on android, look at HERE maps, i use it and it works well.

If you want an easier android solution look at this Head Unit. This is more specific and is just plug and play with the original wiring in the car.

That head unit is perfect! I wasnt really after a full android shebang, I wanted a simpler solution and that's great. I'll order it when I can and get someone to install it as I'd rather not mess around with it.
