I bought a brand new 1.2 12v Ibiza in 2003 and 18 months later I got rid of it because of the hard suspension , I swapped it for a Almera ( crap car). I had the almera 3 months but I missed the great 1.2 12v engine in my Ibiza so I decided to buy a Fabia 1.2 HTP with the same 1.2 12v engine. The Fabia is such a better car, nice ride and better built. Look like I will stay with Skoda for a while.;)

Yeh the ride is firm, but makes cornering at speed more stable!

The Fabia seems a bit more reserved (good if you like blending in), whereas the Seat looks a bit sportier :) and more fun to drive i think.

Green lights in the fabia, ok but not as good has the ibiza, agree with you that going round corners at speed was more fun in the the ibiza. With the roads being so crap in Bradford i could not handle the firm ride any more.

I must say that I prefer the looks of the Fabia and would have gone for a VRs bar two small things one it was going to work out more expensive to insure than the FR (Explain that?) and in a hatch I prefer 3 doors to 5. I'd also say Skoda dealers seem to be better than Seat ones.

Thanks for your input

I think its already know that Seat Ibiza's do seem to have a harder ride than most other cars....

Spaniels - You drive a 200bhp+ diesel, every 1.2 you get in and drive will seem slow, the 1.2 12V engine is nippy for what it is, nothing more mind :D

Neo - Indeed, the sound of the 1.2 is pretty nice, beats the tractor I now own :p

depresion - Thats what makes the world so interesting, everyone is different and likes difference things, imo the ibiza looks hands down better than the fabia. The vRS does look very nice, but just to look at basic ibiza v basic fabia, id take the ibiza... and did :D

nice, although your credentials for recognising a good car are somewhat ruined as you state how good an engine the 1.2 12v is. Sorry if you had the described the 1.2 as asthmatic and thrashy i might have taken you more seriously:cartman:

lol

all in all, stating the Fabia is better than the Ibiza was never really gonna go down well on a SEAT forum...like us goin to briskoda and saying the beeza is best :D

iv never driven the 12volt (sorry-i mean valve;)) motor - but cant imagine its that good...each to their own i guess.

i drove a polo 3 cylinder 1.2 and the sound was quailty v nice, the go was not but for a city car 1.2 would do

MAte try driving a 1.2 through central london on a saturday night, the mst scary thing i have ever done.

Went for a meal with work peeps in Soho on a saturday night and had the hire car as mine was in for service, so parked in Soho as was going out in essex afterwards, blimey it was scary, would be no good as a city car as you can't get out of the way of big buses when you need to:lol:

1.2 is nippy, nothing more, but its all about the power delivery which comes smoothly across the rev range, making it a good engine, it also makes a nice noise ;)

nowhere near as nippy as a 1.2 Twinport corsa, my brother has an 06 one from work at the moment and really is little belter for what it is, the 1.2 ibiza is not even in the same league
