Fitted the speakers! Seems the car had aftermarket 'Diamond' speakers. So the car already had adapters so I'll take the ones I bought back and get a refund.

All in all, happy with the install and glad to be back with non blown speakers.

Is there anyway we can disconnect the tweaters?

oem tweeter?
if you take of the door card, and look to the tweeter you see wire coming from, little down the wire there is a connector, disconnect this.

usually on the plug that goes into the speaker there are 2 loop wires that go off to the tweeter , cut em and tape or heat shrink it , job done & you not altering the stock wiring

why cut em if there is a connector/plug close to the tweeter, this don't make any sense to me

sorry didnt read which section this is in mk1 is much easier to get the door off compared to a mk 2

yep as the add goes "its just like a golf" so unplug it !

You dont need the covers on, in fact i would keep them off if you just putting the card back on
