Ive recently had my mk2 golf mapped its running 1.8t with gt3071r on at 1.6 bar, the afr is reading 11.5-12.3 in 4th gear at 8.200rpm is that ideal? its running aquamist water meth injection so thats keeping intake temps down, im going back in april to have it mapped to 2bar but will it be worth it for the extra 0.4 bar?

Not sure on egt as don't have a gauge for that, is it worth going the extra and going 2 bar?

hmmm.. deffo invest in some egt measurement

are the hotside bolts wirelocked?

No not wire locked but have norlock washers on an never had a problem, il invest in an egt gauge the weekend, how far from exhaust housing shud the temp sender be? It's all on a topmounted manifold not jabbasport if that makes any difference

ideally in the collector of the manifold, however if like me you feel you dont want to risk the thermocouple coming off and damaging the turbine, I mount them about 50mm from the discharge of the turbine in the DP

Hotside bolts to CHRA is what I was meanign wirelocks, not turbo to manifold btw.
I have seen an owens unit fall apart where the botls backout and fell out ruining the unit. Wirelock is what they should do on anything race (and if you plan running that high a boost level, I would class yours as race in duty terms)

better safe than sorry.. it might save you a broken turbo.

egt wise, post turbo, reckon on the temps being 100-150'C higher in collector than at discharge side

Yeh knew which bolts you were on about, il get a gauge fitted in the next week an see how egt's are, cheers for help.

VEMs I use which is both egt and wideband but also Zeitronic also, which is also several measurements..

I think I have seen an analogue auto-gauge on someones leon cupra R GT30 I mapped..

Your boss is for a Zeitronix egt probe.

Ahhh, thanks for the info Alex. Just read that the boss is a 1/8npt which probably means other manufacturers might fit as this seems a popular size for probes and gauges (1/8npt is used on Autometer oil pressure senders etc..)

For my position on the DP, where you position yours Bill would a 0-900ºC suffice?

Cheers as well Bill. :)

To match my gauges Autometer do a 0-900°C and a 0-2000°F. Cant see any other gauges from Autometer that do higher than 900°C. Obviously it can read slightly over 900 as dont think the needle comes to a dead stop at 900 but wont be as accurate obviously.

Im after a 52mm gauge with EGT only, i dont really want to replace my AEM wideband with a VEMS wideband and EGT all in one. I really like my AEM gauge.
