Can someone explain to me (the idiot!) about alloy sizes.
I have a Cupra with the stock 18" alloys.
They are a bit of a mess :(
Thinking of getting them refurbed or changing them for a similar sized set.
If I do change them, not sure what I'll get.
Say I went for something like these BBS'
http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/18_Inch_BBS_CH_Silver_Alloy_Wheels__1598
I get then need to be the same radius so I can put my existing tyres on. Also the studs need to be in the same place
But what about the width - I guess that's the 8J/8.5J? If so what do I need? Will my tyres fit either? And what is the 30 to 50 offset?

Are these 3rd party alloys any good?
Any other suggestions to fit to a black cupra welcome.

Cheers

Pete

Hiya mate, or the mk2 Leon the pcd is 5x112. What you're ideally gonna be looking for is 7.5jx18h2xet51, which is the exact detaila of my face lift p mk2 cupra. You can get away with 8j which I believe is the width.

The offset is also known as ET.

The higher the offset, I.e, 51, the more they will sit within the arches. The lower the offset, I.e 45, the wider the will sit and possibly proud of the arch. An offset of 45 is probably the lowest I would go. I've got 30 on at the mo,the sit very proud but still just legal.

If you want an example of my wheels with offset of 30, I'll add the link in to photos.

EDIT: Third party are OK, within reason. OEM are always going to be better, lighter and stronger than most third party alloys, unless you spend big bucks.

This right, no spacers, the wheels directly on to the hub. Nothing else involved. It does give the car a nice stance. But then steering feels slightly heavier than the OEM ones. I'll be putting them back on soon as one of the black ones has buckled and cannot be repaired.
