Hi
I’ve just bought a 65 plate Leon FR with the Tech pack but there is no sd card for the sat nav. I’ve tried researching but I’ve not really got an answer, can I buy a brand new sat nav card and fit it without having to have it coded/paired to the car?

I don’t know what version should be fitted in the car but if it was for example v4, can I buy a v4 of eBay used and would it work??

Thanks in advance

99% not without adjusting the data. this however by reading another thread is not very simple thing to do. You better off buy a card from dealer....

I am guessing you bought it privately? Weird that it wasn't in there as it will be useless in any other car as they are paired with the car

I take it that the Sat Nav doesn't work? If it does show maps then you will have Satnav High which doesn't have a separate SD card for maps.

I would go back to the dealer you got it from. Unless they told you the sat nav didn't work - and the vehicle was priced accordingly- then either they sort it at no cost to you or you give em the car back as it is not as described. With regards to getting a new card, unless your are an super techy type who enjoys talking gobbledegook whilst sitting in your underpants then the only alternative is the dealers, who will smile nicely, bend you over and drill you a new one.

No it needs to be the correct card for the nav unit. MIB1 cards wont work in MIB2 units etc.

it all gets a bit confusing.

Sounds it. I’ve got the last of MIB1 units which I’ve just found out should be v3 card. Does that sound right to you?

Go to the dealer and ask them to order a new card with the latest maps for you with your cars VIN.

The new card needs to be paired and activated with your car and that requires dealer connections to the Seat factory database.

New or used card from Ebay wont work because the card is always paired with the car on MIB1 navigation units.

New card will work because I have done it several times. a new card is blank, when inserted into the unit it pairs it then.

Just to update the thread, I purchased a used V3 sd card from eBay as it seemed this was most likely to have been fitted from new and guess what....

It worked

Thanks for your help guys
