  • Looking for advice on whether GEM is disabled, firmware-related, CP-related, or requires coding/patching first
Hi all

I am having quite a big problem with my retrofit atm. I originally had mib entry and sourced an mib2 unit and screen from a scrapyard and bought the wires and retrofitted it. Since then I have been trying to get rid of CP via various methods.

The Situation: MST2-EU-SE-ZR-P0241T

I attempted a firmware update via SD card (FAT32, MBR). The update process progressed, but it is now hung on the "Version back documentation" screen.

(I did swap the cpu file with the one in the toolbox menu)

The system is also reporting "Component Protection active." Because of the CP lock, I believe the car's Central Gateway is refusing to "handshake" or finalize the version management, which is why the update is stuck in this final documentation stage.

GEM will not open I believe due to the sd card update not finalising every time I update it. I’ve done it 3 times now. No luck anytime.

My carista and car scanner due will not work saying my carista dongle is a fault or elm clone.

My Questions:

1. How do I get the sd card update to finalise and allow me to get to GEM menu.

2. At this stage, is a professional ODIS/GeKo session (dealer/specialist level) the only reliable path to re-marry the unit, or is there a known "rescue" method for the P0241T hardware that doesn't involve ODIS?

I've already researched the MIB2 Toolbox and mib-helper and used carista and car scanner app to activate gem. but I'm cautious about applying patches while CP is active and the unit is in this state. Any advice or direction to relevant threads would be greatly appreciated
