I have not seen over 800 degrees on mine. Thats a 'safe' level and its done by fueling to cool. Once you have your egt gauge check it and your wideband then you can adjust it. As it has cracked once I would imagine the next will if you dont change anything. Fitting the egt will let you monitor temps but not stop it getting too hot which it must have been already to crack.

The Scooby Mania guy was very honest and said he'd seen TD series turbos with cracked wastegates too as it's all down to EGT's in the end. Apparently on Scoobies they rarely see more than 800 degrees and reliability is normally good - he was aware of a Seat (didn't know who) seeing 1000 degrees + and goodbye 18G.:-o

 did'nt know who my arse.

They supplied my FP Green & Red.. and I have not warped the housings but have suffered wastegate puk seizure in the bush. twice.
high 900's with spike >1000'c on lift off (less than 1.2 a second)

IHI's at those temps warp severly.. FP ones have'nt. Still runnign fine aside from the wastegate bush

Cheers, housing arrived this morning and car was back on ramps this pm. Should be able to pick her up tomorrow :)

Yep if there is a "next time" TD would be the way to go, thanks for the pointer.

perhaps I should have put "didn't say" - I did wonder afterwards if it might be you ;)

Bill - I may be in contact in a couple of weeks for one of your Snows kits - you have these in stock?
