Hi, is anyone on this forum using in car dash camera's? Looking for advice on which type to get as I had a van almost side swipe me into the centre barrier on a motorway and the police said they couldn't do nothing about it without evidence.

I have one of these: http://dashboardcamerareviews.com/a118-tiesfong-b40/

The A118-C version. It's easy to install and video quality is good both in the day and at night. Sound is a bit ropey as there is a constant buzzing on mine but for the amount of times I actually watch any of the video not an issue. It also only likes decent memory cards. Bought a cheap one and it wouldn't overwrite once full. Only real issue for me is my Ciggy lighter is a constant live so I have to plug it in and unplug it each journey. Not a massive issue but took some time getting used to remembering to do it.

Think I paid about £45 on eBay form China. Came pretty quick.

I wired in a second cigarette lighter under the dash that turns off with the ignition for my radar detector which saves having a wire drapped over the dash and having to unplug it every time. I've been thinking of getting a dash cam too just not sure what one to get.

I have been running a mobius (from china) for about 3 years. The quality is excellent and I got the windscreen mount and a 3 metre usb cable and its hardwired into a dual usb connector fed off the power for the glove box switch. I think it was about £60 all in with a 32gb card which stores 6 hours of hd video. I wouldnt drive a car without one now, as well as catching near misses its always interesting to see what happens when you take your car to the mechanics.

I have ran the cable through the trunking of the car so no cables hanging. If I spent enough time on it no doubt I could hardwire it so I don't need to plug/unplug it but to be honest I have got used to doing it now. Apart from about three weeks ago where I didn't use the car for 5 days and the cam was running all that time. Battery low!
