Indicator problems.

Evening all,
i am requiring a bit of assistance with the misus cupra(again) when you indicate right the relay clicks very quickly but the light on dash does not flash, if you turn the wheel a little it then clicks slower and the light flashes and indicators work fine..
any ideas on how to sort this ??

Many thanks in advance

I'm having the exact(ish) same problem mate -- When I have the steering wheel turned slightly right when Indicating (changing lane for example) the indicator will click very fast (as if a bulb is out) the light on the dash won't flash and neither do the indicators. But other times it works fine??

I was thinking it was a contact problem perhaps?

You will need a new indicator stalk/switch. Same was happening with me, but my problem was worse and it just clicked quickly all the time, and actually was about to catch fire before I pulled the fuse out!

So my advice would be to get a replacement. I got one from the scrappies for £30, but they are only around £55 new from the stealers.

do i have the same problem? mine works sometimes as above, i changed the bulb and it made no difference. my mate had a very quick look at it and thought it may be a bit of corrosion so sprayed som wd40 on it, this was a quick fix but it now only works when it wants again

I might pop off the steering cowling and have a look if it's worth just cleaning up the contacts first of all?

Also (this might be related) I can just dip the indicator down to do a quick flash of the left indicator but I have to actually click the indicator on to get the right indicator to flash? Think this is related?

I would just get a whole new unit, as it's very fiddly to get the unit apart. But then if you just want to clean the contacts then you don't have to I suppose...

I'm having the same trouble at the mo, what's this about fire? (re-read - I guess that's because it was on ALL the time as opposed to just turning left or right)

Where are the contacts I'd need to clean up, I think this is quite good to try first.

:help:

After messing around a little bit more, I've found that I only get the rapid clicking if I indicate left but the stalk doesn't sit at exactly the correct down position. If a couple of mm loose of the full down position, that's when I get the fault. Not completely broken, just one new stalk I imagine.

Yeh mine started off by just doing that, then it completly broke. They aren't too expensive if you go onto 1stspares.co.uk and get one there ;)
