its just the wastegate causing the flutter, nothing wrong with it. listen to a turbo'd car without a DV they all have the flutter, but you cant hear it with the norman air box.

If your not getting a clean dump then the wastegate will releave the pressure. it and the actuator are what determins the max pressure the turbo can hold.

Looks like you'd be best getting a new DV.

I think the 20vt is set up to use a recirc dumpvalve to manage boost pressures, this will, if your boost pressure is raised about 15psi, help prolong the life of the turbo and more to the point is what the ecu is expecting to see.

Theres nothing wrong with just flutter, but it does mean that the turbo is being slowed down and so wont be spooled up ready to go when you next put your foot down, but as far as i know it only really makes a difference once your above 15psi.

Alot of flutter is a problem for your car as its not what the ecu is expecting to see. If your still running standard boost however there should be no damage done by the stalling, and a negligable performance loss.

Once you leave the stock map though you'll want the DV for the extra performance and reliablity.

I think anyway :)

Standard airbox back on will hide it.

A good DV might lessen the noise.

Well i'm running a map which peaks around 15psi on a standard dump valve and don't get any flutter. Maybe your DV is screwed, possibly the spring has seized???

Don't try this until someone says it'll be ok!!!!! But if you spayed some WD40 in the DV maybe it would release it????
