Induction problems help much appreciated!

Im new to the seat scene and the car scene in general, but I've fitted a cone filter to my seat Ibiza 1.9tdi fr and the engine management light has come on, is this a common problem and is there any fix or should I just put the original air box back ? Any help is greatly received

No you shouldn't 'be getting the engine management light, are you sure you didn't damage the AFM or wiring??

Okay thankyou, and I don't think I've damaged anything sorry if this is a amateur question but what is the AFM

I am at work at the moment tho so I'll have a look when I get home and I can post some pics too

The air flow meter is bolted to the airbox and has an electrical plug, you didn't remove it altogether did you?

All I removed was the top of the air box, the part going to the air box with a plug on the side Is what I've connected the come filter to and I've also connected the little breather hose to the kit

I've also tried disconnecting the battery and leaving it disconnected for 30mins to see if that would clear it

Engine management light could be coming on for any reason you need to check the codes.

As above check the codes, that will tell you more.

Is the filter an oiled one?? VW cars don't like oiled filters as over oiling can damage the MAF in the long run (heads up if it's not the MAF this time)

Just got home from work went out to the car started her up and the engine management light has stayed off I'll just have to keep an eye on it and see if it comes on again then I'll get the code reader out but thanks for the help everyone!

How do I know if it's oiled or not ? I just brought a universal kit off eBay

Should say in the instructions/says it comes pre oiled/come with extra oil i guess.
