Inner Tie Rod Question

Does anyone know if the rack has to be romoved to replace the inner tie rod?

I'm helping a mate rebuild the front suspension on his MK1 fabia. Drive shafts, struts, hub assembly are all off at the moment and the drivers side tie rod is well and truely knackered. I've not tried anything with it yet.

I got mine on my cordy with the rack in place, it really just depends wether you can get a spanner in there. I just turned the steering until I got the arm in the right place and got in from below, you should be able to hold the rack with an adjustable or similar.

Yeah, was straight forward, took me about 10 mins, though the wish bones were off which made it easy. I will be doing the both on my Cupra soon.

Do the wishbones need to be off? I wouldn't have thought they'd be in the way

No, they don't need to be off, it just helped with access. There was loads of other bits being done at the same time, they just happened to be off.
