Inside of rear tyres wearing like a 50p piece??

I've also seen this on my wife's 54 plate altea TDI sport and now on my Leon Cupra. Mitcheldever tyres down in this neck of the woods said that all the golf mk v platform cars suffer with the issue. The cars are set correctly from the factory, but once the springs have seatled and the rear drops down a bit the camber increases, (more negative) and the tyres wear.. If anyones had lowering springs fitted it might be worth having the alignment checked again in 6 months or so..

My rears are on the way out having done 40k and have worn like you describe, I have read somewhere else on here about Leon's doing this. I also get a drone on some surfaces that sounds like a bearing on it's way out that is supposedly the wear on the tyres.

I'm thinking this may be the problem I have. There's a droning from the rear on certain surfaces, particularly smooth ones, but I'm sure it's not a bearing sound, as I know what that sounds like from having problems with my last car, plus this has only done 22k miles. I'll need to check the rears tomorrow and see what they look like. Went to Whitby for a few days and it was really noticable on the country roads down there. Not sure how old my rears are, but they looked fairly new when I bought it at 9k last summer.

Found a place in stockport Pro Sport which does the full geometry setup for £90 and they will set the car up to how you want it if you bring specs in.

It has been recomended to me by a friend.
I will report back once done and tell the difference.

The tyres wearing on the inside is the camber issue, but mine wore stepped across the whole tread. Some tyres worse than others- my Conti SC3s don't seem to be affected.

I just swapped from Dunlop Sport Maxx GTs to the Conti SC3s, so that's good to hear!

The Dunlops were shagged all round on the inner edges, wasn't impressed with them at all.

Yeah, I got a full alignment done at the same time to make sure that everything was as it should be. Done 2000 miles on them and so far so good!

I had mine aligned when the tyres started to drone and I first noticed them wearing on the insides.

It fixed it for a while, but the tyres on mine were too far gone at that point to cure it I think. It came back after a couple of thousand miles.

I decided to get it fully aligned again anyway when the tyres were changed as a precaution, although it was still pretty much bang on comparing the two reports.

Mine is booked in for the alignment on friday and also getting 4 Toyo Proxes fitted after the alignment so hopefully that will cure the issue.

Had the alignment done at Pro SPort in STockport, very good service and even cleaned the inside of the Car :)

Then had 4 new Toyo Proxes fitted straight after.
Now i no longer have that annoying drone coming from the rear tyres on the car, i am abosolutly amazed at the difference it has made.

Good to hear that its helped on your car. I used to buy toyo T1R for my honda accord type-R and they were great if a little soft which meant they wore a little quicker than others.

I was going to wait until I get new tyres before doing the 4 wheel alignment rather than doing it while the old tyres were still in place - guess it makes little difference though.

On smooth roads I can cope with the noise but on older roads its quite noticably noisy all round (not just the rear) but it's just tyre roar and not rumble from what I can make out - bit dissapointed with this tbh.

Is the general road noise noticably reduced with the toyo's all round?

Yes genral road noise is reduced... Passengers in the car can notice one hell of difference from what it used to be like before the change :)

I would definetly recomend it to anyone.
