Haha that maybe, although those quote on Cupras are CHEAP! I'm paying 975 on a 23 year old golf ATM, and a 160ps Scirocco would set me back about 1600. Goes to show it's all down to statistics not really power. Clearly young people don't crash too many Cupras
Went from a diesel civic, 2.2l but only 138bhp, to the Cupra with 180bhp in 1.4l, and my insurance dropped by about £100, to £400ish. (I'm 26 with 3 years NCB in Aberdeenshire). Lad on the phone said between the smaller engine size and the better safety features on the new car it was seen as a safer model, seems they only take engine size not actual power into consideration and so thought it was less powerful, and better safety features means if you do crash your medical bills should be lower. Also helps I live in an area that sees less theft and 'crash for cash' type schemes than say Birmingham!

Its not the price which I am questioning, tbh, I am amazed at how cheap Seats are to insure in general. I was well excited when I realised I could move from a mk2 golf to a Cupra and get an insurance rebate!
What gets me is that the same car effectively, but less powerful and typically less "boy racer" is £200 more to insure. Goes against everything I know haha

My 1.2 tsi ibiza fr is £640 to insure. 19 year old male Hastings area. Insured with Admiral.
My 2006 1.2 grande punto was £2700 for my first year. Then went down to £600. Both with Churchill.

In my first year of insurance (I was 30) my 1.4 75bhp cost £600. At the same time I got quotes for a Porsche 911 for a laugh. £640.

Be careful with some of the quotes.
My nephew was getting quotes on cars - settled on a 1.2 corsa as one of the lowest prices.
As soon as he got his registration number he could not get near the quotes he had been given.
The small print on the sites says that the quote is not valid without a registration number.
Don't worry, if i am buying a Lambo, insurance will not be a huge concern of mine.
However I alwasy use a number plate when getting quotes (of one listed for sale) simply because it is faster. So One number plate wont wont vary too much from quote to quote as the website does not know heich one I am actually going to buy.
They do collar you on the date though. If you get a quote for 30 days away, it will be substantially cheaper that a quote on the day you buy the car.
Also calling up is normally cheaper. I always call up and see what the quote, 9 times out of 10 it is 5% plus cheaper than the cheapers quote online. If no I ask them to beat the best quote, and they normally do, regardless of numberplate. I must say, the people on the end of the phone at Admiral are tip top, and I dont normally compliment call centre lines, but they are great.
Haha - I think we would all be the same.
Fuel consumption would also go out the window in the decision making.
Even if you enter the reg, make sure to check the details. My 75bhp ibiza always shows up as 85bhp and I have to change it. That massive 10bhp loss usually bumps the insurance UP about £10 as well.
I won't tell them it actually puts out 86bhp on the rollers as stock...
Biggest shock I received was trying to insure a beaten up 90's VW transporter campervan with a 90 odd bhp hairdryer power plant, £2000.
Despite this, I'll give another vote for Admiral's call centres, always been great so far.
