Im 21 with a Cupra and only paying £515 for 12 months. When I was 19 I was just over a grand for it so it seems your quote is a bit steep. As said get a few quotes from Elenphant/Admiral ect and play them off each other.

be postcode i suspect!

if i lived in town were i work my insurance would more than double, its only 15 mile down the road

ive done that 10 months thing with elephant as well but apparently you only get the 1 year ncb if you stay with elephant? and if you transfer to a different company at the end of the 10 months then you cant use it? only found out after i'd paid for mine...

Umm, I did 20 months (2 years NCB) with Elephant, went to Admiral for 12 (+1 year NCB) now with Direct Line (convenience as couldn't afford to pay the whole amount and they had 0% interest), took all my NCB with me.

I did a 10 month thing, got the years no claims, and you can use it anywhere dude.

Every insurance firm we have used have always transferred the NCB onto the new policy.

I know its optional at the moment but just wait till they demand everyone has a black box fitted for insurance cover.

The box knows where the car is 24/7 as well as monitoring your driving standard.

I will bet that your insurance then goes up because you park most of the day in a higher risk area.
