Was just wondering??? I've just sorted my insurance out for the fr+ I'm getting in a couple of weeks. when I put the details in it only comes up with fr. I know that the fr+ was just a way to get the last few cars of the fourcourts before the new model came out, but if I'm involved in a accident would the insurance company put the standard fr bumper back on or would I have to explain that it has got the cupra r body kit from the factory???

Probably the FR bumper, FR+ was limited edition to shift the last of them before the MK2 came out.

In the insurance world, there is no such model as the FR+

I'd phone them if I were you, as some companies get very funny about things like this.

One company might see it as the same as an FR, but another might put you on a modified car policy. I know when I tried to insure my previous car (Celica) the different trim levels caused all sorts of problems, as insurers saw the additional wheels, spoiler, skirts etc as modifications.

It's better to phone and find out than take the risk, as insurance companies will take every opportunity possible to get out of a pay out!

Yes I will get this matter sorted before I go on the road.

PS trust Seat to do a stupid thing like that. Upset a lot people that will. especially people without the knowledge. Take their car in for repairs and come back with a different bumper on it.

Who are you insured with, out of interest?

Direct line. Been a perfect choice so far for me and my father. Great to deal with and quick to get things sorted out when there is a problem. Not the most cheapest but you do deal with uk call centres.

Next time round, give Greenlight a call........ i've just gone with them after nothing short of an amazing quote. They were cheaper than anyother insurer, and that was including a Re-map....

Sometimes its not all about getting the cheapest quote. Its about customer service, which I find throught personal experiance that directline imo are fantastic. My boss has just moved back to Directline from morethan after a shockingly bad experiance and dealing with far eastern call centres. But I suppose they dont (as with evry company) have a 100% posative track record all the time:)

I was with Direct Line previously and they were very good and excellent to deal with. I left them as they were no longer the best quote - although still better than 95% of others - and they wouldn't cover mods until you're 25.

I'm with Greenlight now and have been for the past couple of years, and I cannot praise them enough. They are entirely UK based, know what they are talking about, don't have stupid automated phone systems (press 1 if you had shreddies this morning....) and always give a prompt answer to any question I've asked.

I phoned them recently in fact to ask what affect fitting a TIP, dogbone mount and cat-back exhaust would have on my premium... and they said nothing, just a £25 admin fee :D

But the best thing is the price. They beat DL by around £250 this year, but with mods covered like-for-like and with a lower excess. Well worth a call :)

I was with Tesco - same underwriter as DL - I have a 51 reg Cupra (came with normal Leon Bumpers, nothing special). I put a full MY03 (FR) kit on it, undeclared. Had an accident and had it replaced with an (LCR) FR+ bumper with no hassle at all.

Also guys I'm 26 and have just built up 2 years ncb with directline as a named driver. So sticking with them is a must for the next year. I'm just about to insure my (new) leon fr myself instead of being a named driver under my dads name in which I've biult my ncb dicount

In that case you're kinda stuck to them if you want to make the most of their deals for named drivers. But seriously, don't automatically renew with DL when the time comes and you have your own NCB, you could save some money!
