Hi guys thinking seriously about upgrading from my MK1 Leon cupra to the MK2 Cupra , know what colour and spec i want.
Just a quick question regarding insurance for the guys who have had the side skirts and rear spoiler fitted , did you class your leon as standard or did you declare the extra parts and if you did do you know if it increased your premiums at all?

Thanks.

If anyone has added any of the items it is a modification so you have to tell you insurance company

are the side skirts and rear spoiler not standard fitment on the Cupra? If so then no need to declare something that is standard.
However if they are an option, then yes you need to declare. Same goes for alloys, sat nav etc.

No they are not. They are optional extras that are added on usually by they dealer.

You would deffo need to tell the insurance as they are dealer fit options.

Some companies even want you to declare factory fit options. One company wanted to charge me an additional premium because of my convenience pack.

As previously said you are supposed to declare it, which I did, and Admiral increased my premium slightly.

If this is the case then how exactly do drivers under the age of 25 insure cars with directline unless everyone of those drivers drove a model with no options?

Im sorry guys but average joe seriously does not know that he would have to tell his insurance company that he specced the sat nav on his audi tt or the upgrade 18 inch alloys. Also the insurance companies never seem to ask for such details when doing quotes either.

Agree with poverty,I tried to tell my company that my cupra had side skirts a spoiler and leather, plus other extras not intrested, they just asked me if i bought it like that. They would only pay the book price anyway, although i paid more than that . Everyone knows its a rip off . insurance its pants...

any added on mod u sud tell the insurance company ,they told me cosmetic mod wont increase my insurance only the performance mod will increase my insurance preimum...

I think it all depends on the company.

I got quoted an increase in premium by one place just because of the factory fit options I've got.

I remember on my Celica I enquired about a spoiler and it wouldn't increase the premium, just the excess.

Any mods you should tell the insurance even if they ask or not. Factory fit options are a bit of a grey area some companies are fussy, others aren't.

A lot of car companies wouldn't insure me, just because I had sideskirts. They didn't care about everything else. I think you should ask your insurance company before you actually buy them. You know, just to be on the safe side. Some insurers are idiots when it comes to insuring your car. So, yeah. Be careful. Just my two cents.

yeah insurance will try to find anything jus an excuse not to payout ....
