Defianantly get a quaote from Brentacre just give them a call http://www.brentacre.co.uk/

I am 25, 4 years NCD, I have a LCR 225, all mods declared. With this insurance company they charge you on BHP not mods. Im covered upto 280bhp and pay £570 fully comp a year!

I can add literally any modifiaction to my car and it wont cost me anymore on my premium unless it increases power to over my 280bhp im paying for. Any cosmetics, splitters, audio, wheels etc are all free just have to let them know its on there and can add at anytime.

Also my NCD is on another car and they mirrored them.. As in they have put I have 4 years no claims on my policy even though they are actually on another car i own. All I had to do is prove I had them with my other insurer, result!

Top service and excellent prices, my fully comp covers the lot aswel, windscreen, keycare, drive other cars etc.

im gonna give these guys a go. that is a great policy they have there based on the bhp rather than the actual mods!! some companies add stupid premiums for just an intercooler.
its also worth trying pace ward, adrian flux and sky insurance are also good.

Yeh I was well happy! You have to declare everything you add etc but I have had no increase in price they just add it on :)

Modified Car Insurance
Brentacre cover modified cars all makes & model’s on a brake horse power limit basis, which allows the vehicle to be modified up to the agreed B.H.P. limit with all other cosmetic & mechanical changes, at no extra cost, (and unlike others we don’t charge admin fees when you advise us of mid term cosmetic mods).

This is a copy and paste from there website

Hi mate, regarding renawals, my renewal from elephant this year was £1800, thought it was too high so went on confused.com. With the same details as before the quote came in at £1180, just from being a new customer.

Quick question for those with Brentacre, how do they know if what you say your BHP is, is correct? seriously tempted with them, currently with Adrian Flux i am 44 with 12 yrs NCB and pay £500 i would be interested to see if they can bring my premium down with 300+bhp

You just declare what it is and then they quote you on that. As for how they know, they dont really but its a case of if you crash im pretty sure they can get that info somehow maybe from ECU? I keep a rolling road printout just incase they ever need it for a claim etc. Ive actually declared 280bhp when only 265, but leaves room for the TIP i want to add :)

Just wanna thank everyone for their responses in this thread, I've gone with Brentacre and saved an absolute fortune on my annual premium, nearly 50%. I found their customer service very impressive.

Cheers guys yet again more great advice!

sorry to hijack a bit but it is insurance related, is there anyone in or around the merseyside area getting any decent quotes off anyone.
im 42 driving a standard 04 lc tdi with 9+ years NCD no claims with only 1 sp30, with wife of similar age on policy as named and getting quotes in excess of 630 bloody hell....
so I am presuming this is just down to post code l26

Yes mate, to put it into prospective it was a saving of £700 a year over the renewal price of my previous insurer... It was a no brainer.

I would defiantly try them mate when you come to renew. It pays to shop around I guess and play some of these corporate company's at their own game, too many people are being ripped off these days, nearly me included.

Renewals always go skywards! ...
Very true. It's the way insurance companies 'work'.

Always best to shop around when renewal date approaches. Get some lower quotes, hopefully, then haggle with your current insurer or move on to another.

IME, worth trying Greenlight and Elephant.

FWIW, I'm currently with Esure.

Also consider that if paying monthly, some insurance companies are, in effect, charging you interest on a loan for the cost of the annual premium - as ever, some interest rates are higher than others...
