Nope, you don't need the rubber grommets. Basically those two 'knobs' (for want of a better word) that the grommets connect to can be unscrewed. There is a nut on the lower side of that metal they are fixed to. Use a spanner to undo the nuts and use something to grip the knob.

Apologies how that is worded it sounds like some sex act... I can't think of any better technical terms!

Then place your heatshild inbetween then tighten back up.
