Hi had some bad news on my LC 1.8T today. turns out the head is warped, 8 bent valves, and on top of which one of the cam shafts had ground so much it had gone down to bare aluminuim :( (i'll try and post some pics later so you can all have a laugh) i think the easiest and most cost effective remedy for me is going to be to drop in another cylinder head complete with pistons, valves, cams. etc.

are all the the VAG 1.8t 20v heads interchangable or more specifically will the head from an APT engine fit in my AUQ??? if anyone has a full list or knows the source of one please could you help me out??? :)

many thanks

Pretty much any small port will fit, you just need to find one without vvt.

Why without VVT ????? The AUQ has a VVT tensioner as standard.

All the small port heads should be ok if your just looking for a straight swap. The only ones to stay away from are early large port heads like AEG - AGU as these would need you to change you inlet manifold etc to suit.

You should be able to use any modern 1.8T head but as a quick guide anything produced after your car will have vvt and secondary air injection so can be just swapped over.

ok below are some photo's of my engine - unfortunately i haven't made 15 posts yet so i cant send a link. i am not meant to do this im sure but i may have to do a count down..............
