Intercooler lower boost pipe

Hi there

Sorry to resurrect this old thread. Recently bought an 05 Ibiza FR Tdi, and looks like I have the same problem with lower boost pipe connected to intercooler blowing off and is perished on the connecting lugs. Does anyone know if the connector in the intercooler can also be worn over time or is it generally just linked to the elbow pipe? Car went into limp mode and gave off an unholy amount of black smoke too. Had to be driven about 4 miles home as broke down on main road...could any other damage have occurred to cat or dpf etc? Also will codes need clearing from ECU.

It sounds like Seat want quite a lot for this, does anyone know if VW/Skoda etc sell it cheaper? i.e. for the polo GT of Fabia VRS TDI?

And are there any aftermarket ones out there that are any good? We think the car may have been remapped as it runs a lot faster than previous Ibiza PD130 Sport.

I like the idea of securing it with a Jubilee clip too! :)

Hope someone can help, many thanks.

I found my top turbo hose was split and after replacing it my bottom intercooler hose kept coming off. I found a new hose on ebay for £60, half the price of a new one from Seat in UK. It was from Poland, which I knew before I bought it, and fits perfectly. I found I also needed to fit a new clip, because the pipe came off again a couple of days after fitting it. It seems okay now, however I also used a cable tie on each side of where the pipe goes into the intercooler, and four others pulling them together to help in case the thing wants to pop out again.

So far so good, it may be worth just trying the cable tie trick, I wish I'd tried it before investing in the new hose.
