Hi,

Changed my car recently and the inside is a bit grubby. It stank of smoke but I have almost got rid of that.

However, there's just bits of the car that are grubby, like the ash tray container, inside windows sills, door lining etc.

I did a very quick clean of the seats with a Turtle Wax Upholstery cleaner, not great but ok.

Can you recommend a process / product range to get the car really clean?

I don't have much money this month due to stag parties and my ladies birthday, so a valet is out of the equation :(

Any advice greatly appreciated.

If you can get access to a wet vac then give that a try. If not get some all purpose cleaner, dilute with warm water and use a bit of elbow grease. You can use the APC to clean down the whole interior. Then if your budget stretches I find 303 Aerospace Protectant the best product for refreshing all the interior plastics and trim - leaves a nice matt non greasy finish.

Both products mentioned are available from the likes of Clean Your Car

Cheers mate.

Appart form the steering wheel falling to bits... comes as standard with the Clio Cups. The 303 is monumental in getting a finish like that. Well worth 14 quid IMO.

I and an exterior to match ;)

The APC that came with my VAX machine actually worked really well on the carpets and mats in the car but i thought it seemed a bit strong... possibly could water it down more but i would be more inclined to use a dedicated car product like Chemical Guys Fabric Clean or something.

Yeah I thought that would be the case :) wet vac'ing the interiors something I've always meant to do but I've always been put off because of the 24 hours of wet seats lol

If you don't want wet rear seats, it's really easy to take the covers off the bases. It just folds round the frame, then pop it in the washing machine.

I always wait until the summer to do mine... with the vax extracting most of the water the heat of the sun is then enough to have them dry in a reasonable amount of time.
