Just order part no.1 - part no.2 ( the O ring ) comes with it according to the diagram.:)
Im guessing you have the same problem ?
Would be interesting to know your symptoms?
There maybe a common thread developing here - Mine was a march 2014 registered car -seems the 2014 models have this issue ??
Anyone any comments ??

From my receipt,

Part number 04L907601
price £29.23 +vat from my local SEAT dealer.

Thats the sensor plus the o ring.

The bolt has a T30 torx head. The slimmer and longer your T30 is the better. It's a bit awkward to get at.

Top tip - wait until the engine is cold. It did it hot and nearly dropped the bolt down inside the engine cos it was red hot. D'oh.

That'll teach you for being so keen ! :D:D
But well done you for a self fix and helping everyone else !
I take it its still all OK ? :)

I am fortunate to have several cars to compare with. My son and I both have the FR184 but his is a 16 plate and at the moment I am working on a contract that supply me with a leased vehicle which is an A3 150BHP TDI.

I am starting to notice that at weekends on a coldish start( my car is in a warm garage that stays above outside temp) that my Leon cranks for a second or two before firing and the A3 is almost instantaneous once it decides to crank...it has a long preheat and self diagnostic period...not sure why...could it be the DSG? . I bought mine in May 14 but it was from dealer stock so it could be earlier....do you know how to find the build date?

My son's 16 plate garaged as well but his is a daily driver and it starts in an instant.

so it seems i was too quick to skate round and collect the flowers - it did it again today

back to the drawing board

The only thing to note was when I swtched it off it was doing a dpf regen as the fans were whirring away.

Could the fans running for 5-10 mins weaken the battery enough to cause this?

I would try a new battery if it wasn't £250 for a new one - guess I'll just need to live with it for the now. Strange how the camshaft sensor seemed to help a bit.

Oh No ! camshaft revisited ! :(
I don't think your battery will be at fault - unless its turning over like stirring marmite .
Was it sat for some days before you turned it over ?
Regen over run is common for these engines and has never caused me any problems - except a burning smell as its closing its regen too early - if you ever open the bonnet - beware - its bloomin hot !! but doesnt do any harm as far as i know- or kill batteries !
Your being ripped for a new battery !! check out euro car parts or GSF on line. Be careful though as stop start engines must have the same capacity code numbers or the car must be re-programmed for such a change.
Back to the issue at hand - seems strange its gone away for so long - then re-appeared .
Still points to the same issue - maybe a wiring thing or a dodgy plug connector.
maybe worth unplugging and spraying some contact cleaner or wd to see if it goes away .
Let us know how you get on .

so my latest on this,

I started carrying a laptop about with me and immediately scanned the car the next few times it happened. Nothing. VCDS reported zero faults.

Today I replaced the sensor indicated in the picture above.
Fingers crossed...

Easy changed mate? What sort of price?

part number and price are quoted earlier in the thread

so to revisit my original problem.... it still occasionally does it. It's never failed to start just the occasional extra 2 secs of turnover.

I've also modified my startup routine and this seems to have lessened the problem. Previously I had the habit of putting the keys in the ignition and then faffing about with the air, tunes, etc for a minute before starting the car.
I've got a new routine of putting the keys in and cranking it as soon as the glow plug light goes out. I think this has reduced the frequency of the problem.
Could this be explained by a fuel pressure 'feature'? The fuel rail pressurises but then falls or dips if you wait a minute before you crank it?

The car is 4 next month so I'll treat it to new air and fuel filters soon. We'll see if a new fuel filter has any effect.

Thanks for replying just seen your earlier posts, should have just read back lol. Going to give the senor a try myself if my fault returns again.

Hi all,

I have the same problem with mine..started roughly 2 months ago....

Do you guys have any updates?

I did notice something strange 3 days ago..I left it in "Sport" mode and noticed that every cold start over the last 3 days has been spot on, including this morning..any thoughts?

Cheers,
Andy

Hi,

mine still does it and I can't work out any pattern to what's causing it.

It'll go 3 weeks without showing the issue then do it 2 mornings in a row.

So to update my original thread,

I replaced the diesel filter DIY about 3 months ago. This has definitely helped things.
Still not 100% resolved the issue but no where near as frequent as when I first had the car.

Filter was from the local SEAT dealer.
vcds used to prime the filter after replacement.

Are there any updates to this subject?
I have a 2.0 TDI FR 2016 and recently although the temps are no longer as cold as they have been my car cranks over a fair few more times then I would say is normal before starting but starts and drives fine for the rest of the day.
Any ideas?

The only starting problems I ever had with my VW 2.0 TDI was when the battery was a couple of years old and the starter took slightly longer to reach the minimum cranking speed for injection, which was worse on cold mornings and when the car had been doing short hops.

If your 2016 car hasn't had a replacement battery yet then that would be my first try.
