just bought a new coolent temp sensor (£13), hope this does the trick. anything to watch for when changing this one? apart from boiling water if the cars hot?
and i take it if you have a new one to use that (its got one in the small box with the new temp sender)! if after ive done this, cleared all codes with vag.com and its still doing it what ya reckon it maybe after that?
no, havent had chance to take a look at the temp sender yet. Just wondering if when i get round to doing it if it doesnt cure it what to do next. probbs best asking that if it doesnt cure it! doh!.
Jimmy, open the bonnet and take a look down on the right hand side of the engine, the sensor fits vertically into the coolant pipe and is held in place by a plastic clip.
Is this Coolant Temp Sensor the one that causes the Red light that flashes and beeps 3 times when first running the car on a cold day (also sometimes causing the temp gauge to stick on 60)?
it sends data to the ecu on how hot the coolent in the engine is, if its faulty i assume it sends duff information the ecu. probably worth doing for £13 as it seems to have made it quicker aswell. euro car parts sell them for £11 + the VAT.
