Ipod adapter

I have just bought a Altea and in all my previous cars I have removed the factory fit head unit and replaced it with one of my own to have an IPod connection, however I don't want to do this with the Altea and I have found an iPod adaptor that plugs into the CD changer port. but it says it's from 05 onwards and I have an 04. I have found other adapters that say they will fit 04 onwards but they are allot more expensive so my question is what is the difference between the 04 and 05 and will this adapter work or is there and alternative without having to pay hundreds of pounds.
