an FMIC with the map tweeked won't add 20 bhp surely
IIRC, an FMIC enabes the power already produced to be held for longer up the rev range rather than just when it peaks

not knowing a great deal about turbo's, but wouldn't turbo of a diesel have been designed to cope with lower rev's upto 5000rpm not +7000rpm,
and if it was a good turbo to use, why is it not used by all of the other MK.3 cupra owners

give a turbo specialist a call, allards maybe , they handle deisel turbos every day!

Are you interested in it because of the age, being an x reg and having cheaper tax? I've just had a little look around and theres a few about, just depends on colour etc i suppose.

I'm not saying that the car isn't worth buying but he/she clearly doesn't know what they are talking about.

Carnt see how thats 240bhp tbh without intercooler ect... it still has standard t.i.p so has he just replaced the bottom metal part of the tip to cope with the slightly bigger intake of the k03s? standard filter? also will it have the downpipe and sports cat? hard to get 240bhp without all those, and what remap is it? from an vw/audi dealer....didnt no dealers did remaps lol or if he ment like performance vw ect...? and 260bhp with fmic fitted...... lol wish i knew that before i went hybrid and spent more monies...lol

p.s looks tidy though :)

ask him what turbo is on there, and if he says diesel tell him thats not true, as they are completely different and wont work on a cupra.

then if he says ok its from a golf gti for example, ask him what was done to the original TIP, because it doesn't fit over a K03s as the metal bottom part is too narrow, to fit over the k03s (larger port)

ask him where he had his map done, and for him to show you a graph, because with his mods its im,possible to get those results.

furthermore, he refers to no cutback on costs for maintenance, but seeing as he apparently knows so little about the car, ask where he got his servicing done. Because if he says he did them himself I would be afraid lol!

4. Is the t.i.p standard
5. What filter in the box
6. Dump valve? ....looks standard aswell to me

I haven't even looked that well at the pictures, but if dumpvalve is also standard then the 240bhp is absolute bollocks. Those plastic DV's could never cope properly with those increased pressures

ok all I want to say is it doesn't really matter if he doesn't know much about the car, because this happens all the time with many many cars being sold.
However you have to make absolutely sure that you are NOT paying for things he says are on the car which are not!
i.e false BHP figures to name just one

Its a beautiful car. It doesn't seem like its cheap (but this is not a good time to be selling a car so I think the owner may be open to offers if they still have it) it's clearly had a lot spent on it.
I suppose that when a vehicle has been modded to this level its value doesn't really have much relation to the standard prices, its more a case by case valuation for a unique car.

One thing (from a newbie POV) springs to mind. When I insured my standard Ibiza, I asked about 'what would constitute a notifiable alteration' Auto-Direct told me that they would want to know about any exterior cosmetic alterations, any performance alterations, wheels, exhausts, anything.
Have you looked into how much you'd have to pay to insure it?
I'm thinking that you'd have to have a specialist company because its so far from standard, that could work out to be very costly, because they can also evaluate a 'unique' price.
Just a thought, might be worth seeing if the car is still available then getting some quotes before you go see it?

Good luck, and drive it carefully if you do get it ;-)

also mate ask how many owners its got, how long has this guy/girl owned it for? if hes had it a short time he probably didn't do the mods on it. I would then be worried myself to be honest, because it sounds like he doesn't know much about vag 20v Ts.
