Unfortunatly my other half is having a few problems with her pug 307 ie its crap and falling apart. Now she hasnt got a lot of money to be honest as were trying to save for a house. The question is will she be dissapointed in getting a leon 90bhp instead of the 110bhp. The reason is there a 90bhp leon with 36k on the clock advertised for 4.6k at a toyota garage and does look clean. What your advice ?

Oh and I'm not surprised at your 307 being less than inspiring. When we had one our kids used to play a game called "How far can we get before something breaks", and it wasn't ever very far.

sorry dude its a 1.9tdi s which im assuming its the 90bhp its a 02 with 36k on the clock in silver located at a toyota garage just out of blackburn . I just wondering if its best to save up for the 110bhp model. She want the leon cause she like my cupra ;)

So, a 2002 Leon with low miles for £4600. I'd go for something a bit younger for less money myself. Something like this.

Edit: But I kinda hoped he'd give it a hoover out first....

can see were your coming from but would we be dissapointed in the 90 or would it be better to go for the 110 model ?

Is your 307 a diesel? If so the 90 will be a better drive than the Pug if it's the 2ltr hdi version. That engine is pretty damned gutless, even in 110bhp form. I suggest you have a drive of the 90 and see what it feels like. There's nothing like first hand experience of how a car feels. The 110 will be a bit more of a machine (obviously) but the 90 is very capable.

I know all about the Pug 307 hdi. I had the D Turbo version with all of 110bhp, and that couldn't pull a greased stick out of a pigs bottom. Having said that I now had a Berlingo van with the 90 engine and it's passable for a workhorse. Nearly caught a bus up the other day. :D

On the Leon issue, I'd rather have a newer car with more miles for less money. and I'd rather have a pd engined one aswell, but that's going too far. So I reckon have a drive of the 90, and if it floats your boat don't even think about the 110.

That is utterly hilarious - almost spat my drink on the monitor!!!!

I think either the 90 or the 110 Leon would be fine as 'second car' material and as above, both will be streets ahead of the Pug.

i drove a leon tdi 90 before i bought my 110, and when i drove the 110, it felt so much quicker than the 90, and get a decent remap on the 110 and your wife may have a quicker car than your cupra tdi lol. But i would say 110 is the one to go for if she is looking for something similar is spec, as it comes with the better interior, climate as standard etc

There's a few of them...my mate said his car couldn't pull the socks of a dead man...or couldn't pull the froth off a pint!

I reckon go for the 90bhp and get it remapped....I had a 90bhp which I got remapped and in my opinion there's little difference between that and my current car - 130bhp Golf GT TDI.

Well, I own a 90, which is chipped and has an induction kit, running at about 115bhp, maybe 120.

Its lowered too.

I can't complain, its cheap to run, and althought it'll never be a Cupra TDi, when I stick my foot down, it pulls.

The question would now be, Can you find a 110bhp?
There are limited numbers of this spec for sale and took me a while before I found by Leon SE (110) - better trim, some leathers, multichanger cd, a/c and is great fun to drive.

Cant compare against the 90bhp, but if you can find a 110bhp then consider it.
My 2001 registered has not long clocked 105K miles and would think it was worth about £3000, I had paid £5000 only 2 years ago, so keep in mind depreciation.... a well maintained older registered diesel may save you a few pennies? (~£1500 per older year)
