Yes, there is an armrest, there have been many threads about retrofitting one. I found it just got in the way and had it raised up all the time. I'm not sure what it's good for - I've always got both hands on the wheel when not changing gear or using the handbrake.

Get 1 of eBay. I have had armrests in my last 3 cars. It is one of those things you just get used to. The ONLY problem is pulling the handbrake up, feels like the armrest is in the way.

I got a cheap and nasty armrest from Ebay/Bulgaria!!Was OK to fit but will be getting taken out again as it rattles quite bad at the minute and is doing my head in!! Would love an OEM rest but they can be expensive.

Can you suggest a link? Are they easy to fit? I can't see how they secure?

I can't find one on the mobile site. I have found a couple on the eBay app for iPhone but obviously can't give u a link unfortunately. They can go for around 10 pounds used item. I didn't fit mine. It shouldn't be too difficult. I fitted one in my BMW.

I would agree, the armrest I had in my old Toledo was very solidly attached and never gave any feeling of insecurity. I just found it got in the way of gearchanging and the handbrake. It's not helped by the fact that the handbrake is not moved across on the rhd cars, so it's more convenient for the passenger to operate :)

Look on eBay or around local scrappies for one.

Wouldn't be without my armrest love it as said found it got in the way of the handbrake but you soon adapt to it.

Mk4 golf 1's fit but make sure you get the fitting kit, just need to cut the bottom out the coin tray out

I fitted a Mk4 golf one using a guide on here, its pretty fiddly but not a difficult job just need to take the leap of faith hacking the console! OEM Seat ones do exsist but I don't think they were that common an accessory, there are a few out there with factory fitted ones though. The Audi A3 / A4 ones which are rectangular at the front as opposed to rounded like the Golf ones, look more like the Seat ones I think but the size and fittings are all the same

It does get in the way of the hand brake so if you do most of your driving in town then I would say its a bit of a waste of time. If you drive with both hands on the wheel religiously too then its probably a waste of time as well.

I got my Mk4 one from the scrapper for about £15 if I remember correctly, didnt get the bolts with it so was another couple of quid for the adapter bolt (read the guide if you don't know what I mean!)

Paid £35 inc fitting kit for mine off ebay, price vary on ebay, also ask ppl that are breaking golfs got more chance of getting fitting kit
