I thought that the K1 left the factory as a Cupra and a box full of bits and that the kit was fitted by the dealer in the UK? I'm sure I read this was a reason why some the kits were fitted better than others.

Says here the K1 was only available in the UK as an option - is this true?

You find most kit's are fitted when arriving into the country, as it's a waste of resources for the manufacturer to do it at the factory (when it's only a "limited number")!?

Thats correct, they were ordered as K1 but left the factory as Cupras then had the bits (Bumpers, Skirts, Spoiler and exhaust) fitted at port of entry or a dealers.

They were a UK special addition that got added to the standard list for a short time but for UK only

They should have put numbered plaques in them and avoided any confusion and made them a bit more special at the same time.

Wrong you will never find a K1 with a 1.6 Engine! What you will find is a 1.6 with the Touring car body kit that doesnt make it a K1

K1 Only comes with 2.0 Cupra engine, A True K1 will have everything a Cupra has got plus the body kit , saying that it could just be a Cupra with the K1 Kit fitted after

There are alot of Sport 140 TDI's with the touring car kit on around aswell

The Sticker under the carpet in the boot will tell you if its a K1 or not, because the option codes listed should have the K1 Extras on it??

Take it easy baron! :p I did use inverted commas lol

EDIT: Just seen Mr swollox's comment, beat me to it!

To be honest, I am not too keen on the bumpers, but the side skirts should have come standard on all the Cupra's and FR's.

Same here, I think the kit as a whole is a bit OTT *puts on flame jacket*

One of the main reasons I bought my cupra was because it had the skirts on it, just seems a bit plain without them.

Warwickshire once.
Did you not all get the K1 numbered edition plate on the dashboard on your K1's????? I had it on mine.................

Or maybe it was where I dropped my Cornetto!!!!

The K1 does not in all cases have the correct stickers in the boot... SEAT are especially good at fecking that up.

The K1 does not come with a 1.6..... What are you on about!!!

The K1 kit only slows the car down.... if you drive like a granny......

The K1 was generally a 2008 model car but due to the public take-up there were some later ones - 2009 ish.

the K1 does not in all cases have K1 in the service book....especially if SEAT give you the wrong service book.....

The K1 does come up as K1 on insurance databases.

Happy Hunting.

Head, nail, nail head!!

No K1 leaves the factory with the kit on...FACT.

All Leons, leave the factory the same, FR's, Cupra's etc.

The dealer then had the option to turn a Cupra in to a K1, this meant the kit being added, along with a few extras that were then sent from Seat, to turn the Cupra in to a K1. Such as the seats, Gearknobs, mats, and other accessories.

Never in the history of Cupra's, has a "K1" ever left the factory, fully kitted.

That's why you get Fr's (like mine) with the Kit on and twin exit exhaust, and then some reference sports with the kit on also, these were installed by the dealers when they first got the cars...i watched one being fitted when i went to pick mine up!

All of the "K1's" arrive in the UK in standard Cupra form..

The K1 was a Seat UK special which to my understanding consisted of the Aero (BTCC) Kit, Central exit back box (Branded up as Seat Sport) and what was at the time the Optional Alloys for the Cupra. These Cupra's were all converted by Seat UK for the dealer networks to sell as a limited edition run.

Other than those parts it is just a normal Cupra in every other way simples [B)]

Sorry if that's pointing out the obvious to some people that already know but there seems to be many that don't.

Mate sent me a pic of a K1 yesterday his missus has it in (works for Skoda) as a trade in. Not sure if it's my age but I find the kit a real turn off, much prefer the standard Cupra FR or even my basic shed. It's going for £12.5K not sure on milage and is a 58 plate. KR58FPZ, apparantly dealers are only offering £9K, not sure on milage.

some K1's did have special seats, don't know if these were limited edition? i remember sitting in a white one that had a K1 in white and red in the seats instead of the cupra like usual. (knew i couldn't afford it, just wanted to look lol)

I understand as well mate, just some people saying that they came out of the factory kitted up etc...they didn't, they're all just Cupra's with add ons!
