What do people do to clear their wind screen as quick as possible?

had blowers on Max and air con on, took about 15 mins at least with a little gap open in the driver side window.

do people use a dehumidifier?

my previous 62 Ibiza was awful with ice showing but my current seat Leon 2016 isn’t much better for clearing the wind screen first thing.

Clean the inside windows. Change cabin filter and when all that has been done.
Put blowers on max windscreen demist with air con. Usually clears in a miniute or two.
You can also adjust strength of either air con or the auto blowers in the menu for how powerfull it is, i cant remember which one though.

You can pretty much guarantee this subject comes up every year on most car forums. It’s a natural phenomenon unfortunately; moisture in the air inside the car (e.g. from your breath, any damp items in the car) at the end of a journey will turn into condensation on the windows if the windows are colder than the dew point.

As @adam davies has said, keeping your windows really clean will help stop moisture ‘sticking’ to the glass, also ensure that the cabin/pollen filter isn’t clogged up and waterlogged. If you’ve got a garage large enough to accommodate your car but the garage is currently used as a shed, take the opportunity to have a clear out, take a few trips to the local tip and put your car in the garage overnight. Check you don’t have anything in the car that might be causing excessive condensation on the windows - damp carpet mats, damp clothing or umbrellas. Also check you don’t have a problem with water leaks and water finding it’s way into the the interior of the car - check carpets are dry and you don’t have any water in the spare wheel well in the boot. You could also try one of those car dehumidifying bags (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pingi-Rechargeable-Dehumidifier-moisture-caravan/dp/B003FTH8DU ).

Many people don’t use the air con at this time of year as they don’t need it to cool the car’s interior. However, it can still be used for its dehumidifying effects to help dry the air in the car’s cabin. I run my air con 24/7 and don’t have any issues with moisture build up). You could also try to equalise the car’s interior temperature to that of the external temperature before the end of your journey by turning the heating down or even drive the last part of the journey with a window slightly open to let the warmer air out.

Yeah, same. Air con is 24/7. One thing I have learnt is don't put it on interior circulation to speed it up in the morning if you've rushed out after a shower. Windscreen was dripping for 45 minutes. LOL. So now I always use exterior 99% of the time.

I know it's not a professional solution and more of a hack but I know potato and shaving cream actually work, at least on my bathroom mirror ?

Or, you could just get out of your lazy bed earlier? ;0)

I look out the window and if it's frozen I get up ten minutes earlier. Yeuk! Jump out and start the car. Heater up full etc and go back in the house. Get my shower, grab my stuff and by the time I leave the car is good to go.

Something sounds wrong here - 15 mins to demist the windows! Mine is more like 15 - 30 seconds!
The AC IS a dehumidifier! As long as it's working and turned on?
Just click on the windscreen clear button.
I leave mine on auto all year round and never have a problem with condensation.
Don't open your windows - as you'll be trying to dehumidify the world! - just let the AC do its thing.
If the above applies and it still doesn't demist check
The AC is actually working?
The cabin air filter isn't blocked?
The AC condense drain isn't blocked (the one which leaves a little puddle on the floor)
There is no water leak/wet carpets?

@Mr Pig; it’d be worth checking the small print in your insurance policy, as most if not all insurance companies exclude theft of vehicles if they’re left unattended with the keys left in the car.

I wouldn’t want to think a fellow forum member had their car stolen under those circumstances, and their claim was denied by their insurance company.

Round here, if you did this, no sooner had you worked your shampoo up into a lather your relaxing shower would be disturbed by the unwelcome sound of some hoodie-wearing oik red lining your shiny motor up the road and away:mad:

I may be wrong but I think it is also a road traffic offence, maybe only on the road though?
Anyhoo, when leaving the car at night turn down the heating to cool the interior and help stop condensation forming before reaching home, I have big bag of moisture gathering beads on the dash, it goes in the micro wave every so often to dry it out.
I have seen cars with the plastic tubs with crystals to absorb moisture(£1 from Poundland etc) but not sure if they work, never seen anyone using a Unibond aero 360 yet mind.

Press the Quikclear heated screen button and wait 10 seconds...

One of the few things miss from my old Focus's!! Shame they're not more common in other cars.

I find cleaning the windows on the inside properly, works the best. Few months ago, I hadn't and even drizzles would make the windows mist up. Of course pressing the demister (fronts) would work, but it was soo annoying...One day I was waiting for my other half outside in the car, and thought I'd do something useful, so I used a small bottle of water, sprayed the inside glass a little, and wiped dry with microfibre, the windows started to demist less, but the misted parts was exactly where I was lazy to wipe properly / reach. So I did the exercise again on a different day, and wiped throughly, and even used a kitchen roll (the ones that absorb oil well) and try reach the hard to reach parts, and was through everywhere! Last few days and yesterday, it has been raining, car has been outside parked in the rain, and now even when I drive off with wipers wiping away, it doesn't mist up anymore! Don't even need to use the demisters!
