£3.5k for 50-75bhp dependant on how much they put out as standard, not bad

Be interesting to see costings to get it up to 360bhp which appears to be coming in due course

Having checked the new Leon Cupra at the M.Show I'll seriously be considering an ST when the LCR goes, chavvy or not. Personally I reckon de-badge it and put some decent wheels on and you'd be away. The interior was also a way nicer place to be that the new Cupra too

I love all the 'my car's faster than yours' nonsense  . Lets be honest all of the current hot hatches (Golf, Leon, Astra, Focus) etc all put out similar power as standard or once mapped. As they also weigh similar amounts, on most roads they'll all be fairly similar in terms of performance so no one will be rocketing past either way. Driver skill will have much more to do with it :help:

I had an ST -3 on 'loan' for 4 days recently, and to be fair it sounded quick and the noise made you want to to drive it quick- but and here is the but- to me it was like something was missing in the whole package -a missing ingrediant- it wasnt until 3 other people had driven it, that we decide it was missing the 'F' factor -
It didnt make you feel 'special' behind the wheel-and after all the hype in the press etc I was expecting something else from it-other than being a Ford.
Fuel cosumption was abismal and the Recaros were too bulky and made you feel more closed in than I would desire. The height of the Recaros made me feel like I was driving a mini mpv-(I have optional Recaros in my LCR). The throttle response was poor -had to push go pedal halfway down before that 'Volvo' engine wanted to pick up-as for that stereo-big enough to put in your bedroom-green digital readout -pants -as well as the afterthought digital readout in the dash.
After two days I wanted my LCR back- and it was on a friends driveway-but he wouldnt give me the keys back-says it all really.
Eventually got back into my car and Iam not kidding you-It felt better -no frills -but everything felt right- throttle response -steering -no electric servo - felt much better-
Ok the ST does have better handling and inspires slightly more confidence in the corners -It actually felt a bigger and heavier car than the Leon but would I swap-not a chance.

So true quattroman! The driving position, the throttle response, and the dash isn't the best for the Focus, the Sony CD player, is quite frankly shite and although it does have better powered steering it doesn't have the feeling like you say. The interior is not a place I preferred, I like the subtleness of the LCR in a way, a few red strips rather than the Ford 'I'm a secret chav'. Like the RS Focus, a great car let down by a number of factors like the interior, blue steering wheel, gaitor, seats etc, its not a place I felt at home.
