Checked mine yesterday as they were way down. 25-27:shrug: and no warning light!

Correct pressures are 32 front and 29 rear.

I think they only detect a significant loss of pressure.

I checked mine on my old Cupra when the warning went off, one was down to 22 psi another down to about 8.

Are you sure that 32 with 18's is right?!
If I convert my bar's to PSI I'm pushing 40PSI...used to have 38PSI but the tyre felt all soft and stuff.
The dealer tried to make me believe that it should have to be between 43-46PSI but I noticed that the middle of the tyre was wearing much faster than the rest.

32 front, 29 rear sounds right to me from when I had the Cupra.

As someone said before it says on the inside of the fuel filler cap but if the alloys aren't factory fit that may not be right for the car.

40 psi is very very high for a car tyre.

have not checked mine yet, but will do tomorrow. Think inside the fuel cap it does say between 30 - 32 but could be wrong. Just returned from the girlfriends mums, 110 mile try and have returned 47.21mpg according to a fuel website. Which to me is pretty damn good :)

Although does drop rapidly if ya put ya foot down normal driing

Searched the world wide (****)web for some info on this and according to Goodyear http://goodyear.tiremanager.eu
225/40/R18 should be at lease 2.4 bar or 35PSI altough I still think mine feel weird with that low of a pressure.
Maybe I'll try the Goodyear recommendation and see if the flat tyre feeling is still there...

BTW the Michelin site gives the same recommendations for 225/40/R18

too high a pressure will case your ABS to kick in too early. i've got mine at about 35 on fronts at the moment. had 38 once and that was enough to put me into the back of another car. would have stopped with lower pressure. too low a pressure and u get wallowy ride and excessive tyre wear.
tbh tyre pressure is very much trial and error and difference makes of tyres respond differently to the same pressure.

The wallowy ride I get below 38PSI :S, that's why I now have 41.
No problems at all with the ABS.
I am going to give 38 front & 35 rear another try. Both Michelin's and Goodyear's website give that as a recommendation.
Let's see if the wallowy ride will be back.

too high a pressure and the centre tread gets worn away.

I have mine at 35/32 as thats what it says in the filler cap.

I just followed the link to the goodyear site above and for my tyres it recommends 3.0bar (44psi) front and 3.2bar (47psi) rear!!

Can that be right? I've been running on what I thought was recommended for the standard tyres.

I have 225/35ZR19 's

Yes but my fillercap suggest pressure for the standard 17's the pressure is completely different with 18's. Those pressures are not mentioned, at least not in my fillercap :D

You cannot use the pressure from the standard wheels. Your cupra comes with 18's as standard and I think the pressure mentioned in you filler cap should be for them. The 19's need a higher pressure because they're bigger, I think.

I think the site is correct, as the Michelin site recommends about the same pressure as the Goodyear one. At least for my 18's.

I think the logic that 19's need a higher pressure because they are bigger is a little flawed because every other car I've owned has wanted low 30's psi, and the wheels have been different sizes eg. 14" 15" 16".

I think I'll try it and see how it affects handling, mpg, grip etc.

I think I've worded it wrong, it's a bigger diameter but it's the lower sidewall that makes the pressure increase necessary.
Don't know the specifics but I'm very sure that if you fit a bigger wheel than standard, which wil mean it has a lower sidewall, you need higher pressure too.
