ive got fault codes...

ive just ran VAGCOM and got the following codes:

16497 and 16486

i know one of them is maf related but could the two to connected ??
car runs fine but mpg is a bit lower but i put it down to short trips round town but i could be wrong. any advice or help would be great peeps

have you checked the sticky on codes in vagcom section?

have you looked at rosstech wiki?

Mass Air Flow (MAF) (G70) defective
Possible Solutions
Check wiring and connections
Check / Replace Mass Air Flow (MAF) (G70)

thanks guys but the one that i aint got a clue about is 16497 and the other i know that i will need a new maf !!

Could try a new IAT sensor?

Intake air temp sensor. Put a post up in Sere Motors section, they'll get you a good price. Not sure on the location though

I think it's the sensor in the inlet manifold right next to the throttle body.

ive just had a look and i cant see anything in or around the inlet apart from two small rubber pipes !!

thanks LEE but mine has got the AGN engine so different to the pic. ive had another look round but still cant find nowt. could this prob be the cause of lower mpg ?? also is it still ok to drive round in it ??

If all the sensors are not sending the right signals then yeah, anything can cause mpg to go down.

all sorted now. i disconected the maf sensor and removed the airbox when i was looking for a water leak. i then started the car and left it running for a min to look for leak when running. ive cleared all codes ran around for a few days and no failts have come back.... so must have been when i started car !!
