sorry ,its a really nice car,but i is getting old

i had a cupra before, and i have gone to a MK3 Golf Valver

and to be honest i prefer the valver, its more fun to drive and well, more of a proper car

looking well mate. now time for some advice.....
1. unless you have proof that the timing belt and tensioner has been done in the last 10k by a decent mechanic, get it done before you take it out, mine went at around 42k (cant remember exact mileage now but was well well under 50k).
2. change the oil, filter and plugs, then you know service wise its straight.
Check the brake pads, I managed to shatter a set of green stuff pads, you might as well get a looksie and see whats left.
3. get some hand cream (vaseline intensive care is my choice) and rub it into the steering wheel, make sure its is totally rubbed in or else it will be a tad slippy, this brings out the shine and softness back onto the surface.
4. Silver sidelight bulbs, doesnt need explaining.
5. fill her up and give her some welly at the next available trackday to clear out any cobwebs! haha
Good luck with her mate.

cheers fella... would have done all the above anyway, oil change i can knock out for about 15 pounds, so its not really worth not doing, the cam belt ill have to look thru the receipts of it all but i reckon ill be getting that done soon enough, had it go on my 8 valve beast so i can see it being twice as nice if it goes on this one

mine went and wrecked all 8 intake valves, the engine wasnt the same afterwards and managed to kill a tapped soon afterwards, ended up swapping in a new head.

ABF's are renowned for going early.... it should be your 1st job

£15 oil change? nah - get some properly nice fully synthetic stuff - your engine will thank you

I'm looking forward to the new year - I think once you have got some trust in the valver & learnt to keep it on the go you'll probably realise it's more fun than the 1.8T (albeit marginally slower)
