Has anybody had an issue with a custom map from Jabba?
I have had one from them last year, in total its cost me £595, 4 trips to them and I still have a car that smokes in a big way.
Yes it goes very well, producing 391 lbft currently, but each time I have taken it back, when I drive away it smokes even more than before it went in!
Its impossible to use any more than half throttle as I can literally fill the road with smoke, it varies in colour depending on the outside temp.
She runs a brand new hybrid has no boost leaks and has recently had EVERY sensor possible including a maf.
I now believe that I have a poor map from Jabba which just overloads my engine with fuel!
Has anybody ever heard of excess fuel washing oil of the bores:shrug:
Could I be up sh@t creek without a paddle here?
Dont want to return to Jabba as I have had enough now!
Opinions which could steer me down to a resolution apprecaited.
I know the obvious one is to go to somebody such as RS tuning maybe?

I had a generic map (I know it's not custom), and never had a problem.
At the moment I've got a AmD custom map, yes it does smoke however it's controllable. As in I make it smoke (high gear+low revs+full throttle=smoke).

Not running as much as torque as you (330), I personally thought when you start running big power smoke was expected?

Wish I could see how smokey yours is!

I will have to post up a video. The smoke is that heavy you would think the engine had failed! I know smoke is normal, when I had the hybrid fitted it was being driven by a generic map which did smoke a bit black lower down but produced 190hp and 365lbft.
But it did not fill the road with smoke!!!!
£595 later, 25hp and 26lbft extra, I CAN FILL THE ROAD IN A BIG WAY.
Personally I have never seen a car smoke the way mine does.
If I keep to using half throttle or less then there is very little smoke at all!
But half throttle means I dont get the performance I paid for.

It doesn't sound right to smoke as badly as you suggest...

A video would be handy to gauge how bad it is though

Lower the torque to a more sensible level ie 330 ish lb then the car shouldn`t smoke badly. Just because a hybrid turbo is fitted to a diesel doesn`t mean it`s got to smoke any worse then when it was stock if the car has the right mods for the requested power. If you times your bhp by 1.4 you should get a ruff idea of what your torque should be.

Have you uprated any of you inlet pipes or intercooler to go with the hybrid?
Mine was smoking like hell when i fitted the de-cat and had it remapped, i also (dont laugh too loudly) had a 'diesel dump valve fitted', which didnt help things, i spoke to alan at allards who advised me that the mixure was wrong and the ecu was not matching the right amount of fuel to the amount of air being supplied due to either:

Poor mapping
Blocked intake system
A restriction somewhere in the system after the map and maf sensors
Sticking Egr

I have since removed the egr and anti shudder valve, the Piece of crap DDV (the t-piece supplied was too small) and have uprated all the pipe work and intercooler - no the smoke only makes an appearence when i want it to, mainly on heavy boost, no smoke on idle and no smoke when driving normally, i'll post some pics of my set-up shortly.

The maf was sensing alot of air being drawn into the engine and matching it with the corresponding amount of fuel but with the resrictions in place it was strangling the engine - so the amount of air the ecu was trying to match the fuel with was wrong.

My TDI130 has a jabba custom map and makes 205bhp with 380 ftlbs torque and yes it smokes ! This is normal. When used hard (on track) the rear of the car is black. Im on a 100k miles and the car is PERFECT so i would'nt worry about it:)

HA HA! cool as fook mate! good old oil burners.
When i was having problems with mine it was like a scene out of londons burning whenever i booted it.
Thats a good way to describe it!
Why should I get the torque reduced?
After the hybrid was fitted it was making 365lbft BEFORE Jabba carried out the custom map.
It did not smoke the way it does now before Jabba got hold of it!
And to add insult to my injury £595 has got me 30hp and 26lbft.
That cannot be right can it? One thing for sure I am not taking it back to Jabba after they have already had 4 goes at it!
All my pipework is good no blockages, the egr is completely disabled and the intercooler is stock but read on many occasions that its good for 300hp.
My only places left to try are;
Modify the intake incase the setup (100mm cold feed with std filter, gren cotton one currently not in the box) cant supply enough air.
Fit a proper decat pipe as I have removed the cat and replacd it with some piping which the local tyre fit place did for £50, maybe the bore is not right?
Other than this GET RID OF THE CAR? which I would not want to do.

The black smoke is not that bad its the grey stuff thats doing it.
Grey can also be down to overfuel/ exhaust temps, i do not have a water loss problem and my car uses approx 300/500ml of oil between services.

Do you have a nice big FMIC? When mine was remaped it was made clear that to benefit fully from the map you need to upgrade the hard wear such as the FMIC, manfold, exhaust ect. Mine has these and runs perfect! The FMIC i'm told is very important as it reduces intake temps there for improving combustion and reducing smoke.

Allards make a lovely big, double thickness alloy intercooler, might be worth asking them.

Its definately not the FMIC unless its all clogged up...I am running approx 250-255bhp on the 150PD intercooler and dont have massive smoking issues...approx 370lb/ft.

Does it do it mainly in first and 2nd gear? If so it could be the advanced injection timing to keep the turbo spooled up.

No it does it in every gear all the way up to 155mph!
If I keep it to half throttle or less there is vitually nothing.
Also if I spool up the turbo and back off there is LOADS!

If I am honest it sounds purely the mapping side of it. They need to reduce the fueling at the top end of the range by 10/15%. That doesn't necessarily mean you will lose power...they may need to drop the boost also.

When having a little play with a well mapped stage 1 they said I only had the initial burst of soot when changing gear...whilst accelerating away there was nothing significant.
