Adam couldnt get his car down to them as by a form of bad luck its started misfiring :(

So JabbaSport have contacted me about it, I said "lets do it" and *touch wood* I will be going down start of Jan leaving my baby to them to get the car remapped. They have to remove the ECU from the car to remap it- thats the only bit im slightly worried about aha :) But I am sure all will be well. Will keep you guys updated on it.

No disrespect to the Jabbasport lads but no way would I be doing this!!

Just wouldnt let anyone 'piss' about with my car but thats just me. If they want to develop software they can go buy one.

Haha thanks For that. (Y)

If anything were to go wrong they would fix the problem. Ive done it before with my previous car, induction kit tested and a remap as well. Hopefully everything will go as planned.

Likewise- and because my11 builds have a fully active version of VAG's security system that cant be spoken to ( even by the likes of revo) with out taking it out and probing it directly. Once unlocked it can be spoken to via the obd port iirc.

is it only the my11 builds and later which have the security? I have a my10 build so Im guessing I dont have the VAH security?

Vah was a typo ;) meant to type VAG lol Android keyboard...

And it came into effect near end of 10. Theres no way of knowing without trying as far as im aware

mine is a 10 plate and amd couldnt do it on mine, took the ecu out and ended up knackering the ecu - car wouldnt start and fans were going even when key wasnt in ignition, however they did sort it for me so i have no complaints at all... AMD are specialists who have proven track records with these cars, no way would i let anyone use my car as an experiment, enough goes wrong when experts tamper sorry guys

What ever happens don't watch them when they clamshell open the ecu. Made me feel sick when I watched them do it to mine.

Its cringing watching them open it up.

All tuners have to this if its a 2011 csr onwards though due to the encryptions.

Pfft easy , ecu is very accesable in the engine bay. just make sure they seal it up properly afterwards as the water ingress is just behind it.

Did you have revos trial software on before? But yes i read if you change the paramaters beforr removing the security the ecu locks out hence a 15k brick- though it seems you wernt deterred and have revo sgt1 now? Jabba arequite good tuners from the googling ive done. Its not like ive given my keys to bob down the road who just got his btec in computing:shrug:

just be aware guys that the diagnostics machines have been updated so that when a remapped vehicle comes in, the machine reads TD1 - CHIPTUNED VEHICLE - just a warning to people thinking they can still get stuff under warranty under the radar, sadly those days seem to be coming to an end

No problem thanks, have you had any problems with dealers?

If the map was taken off before any work was done would it be seeable on the diagnostics like that? Or would they have to dig deeper into the checksums ect to see if it had been altered?

Thanks

Seat know straight away whether its been tuned even if the map has been taken off. Its not hard due too when they plug it in they can check when the ECU was last messed with. i.e. When the map was removd...however whether tbe dealer acts on this info or whether they spot is down to them...but if they look at your ecu or you have a fault with your ecu then i doubt SEAT will honour the warranty and thats your engine warranty gone.bye bye. an with this engine id want yoo have that. Also jabba is quite an aggressive tuner and i wouldnt wana risk everything for 20bhp not when revo have got an engine map and a dsg map.

By no means am i bad mouthing jabbasport and there is no prejudice intended...i personally wpuldnt risk it

So you wont risk your engine with one tuner but will with another because everyone else does? I do understand your logic, because REVO are tried and tested but regardless of if its a REVO or not, if the ECU dies a death because of the remap and a dealer finds out, the engine warranty is gone on that too?

Ive never seen any other Your car is going to be ruined comments on anyone else's rides that have tuning boxes,REVO remaps, or remaps from other companies,Or when the first guy came on saying he was getting it mapped apart from the odd, there aggressive(is that were you got they were aggressive from, or is it past experience? Im interested to see the information please-again, genuine question)

Its a forum and I am greatful of the opinions, its nice to be shown the other side of the coin and be made aware of the implications. So dont think im just tryin to shut you out :)

well to put it this way if my car goes wrong again i will be taking the map off and leaving it off, not saying the map is to blame but i dont want to risk my warranty - i could live with a standard car they are quick enough - but thats just me, people could argue with dealers and try to hide it in different ways but me.... i dont want the grief to be honest

Most places will give you a disclaimer now saying that there remapp may void warranty and also that the tuner is not to blame.

I ALWAYS do a lot of research before I go to any tuner, and most of the ones I use are recommended by friends rather than mass community’s.

I would say I have only ever had one problem and the Tuner in question did all they could to rectify the problem and make me happy again, so that rebuilt my respect for them a little.

Jabba have been doing remaps for years and back in the days of the famous FABIA VRS they did they were one of the best mappers around, however they went through a bad patch and many staff that I used to deal with no longer work there.

It is good to hear there looking at getting back into the game again as I have seen their reputation take a battering on other forums in the VW community.

You only need to get the Forge valve if your standard one blows, make sure Jabba tell you the boost your running as that will affect the spring you put in the valve.

You don’t need the actuator, Jabba as well as other custom tunes, often adjust theses on cars when mapping. I would say don’t let them adjust this as this will defo void all warranty and is an obvious sign a car is mapped, also these are set by the turbo manufacture and set to the limits of the turbo units, don’t adjust it or let them adjust it.
